  1. Jonathan, (expeatfarmer), asked me if I'd like a trip out to a local scrap/reclaim merchants. Object of the exercise was to see if he could find some pallet racking and have a ratch about. We had a good day and visited two reclaim places and another that sells/breaks mowers etc. Unfortunately no suitable racking was found. But we didn't return empty handed. At the first place I got two short window sash weights to hang on my plough. Nothing at the second, but at the third we both got items. I'll leave Jonathan to say what he got. I got this roller. 10" dia x 37" wide. Will require modifying to make a ballast roller and a frame made. At the place I got the roller, we asked about Wheel Horse wheel weights. "I had some", he said. "But couldn't sell them". "I think I threw them in the scrap, but I'm not sure". We had a search around but no weights to be found. Not surprisingly really, with stuff buried under more stuff. He's going to have a look and let us know if he finds them. Here's hoping.
  2. It performed well, Nigel. Had a nice little plough on the back as well.
  3. Thanks for the photo's and for clearing up the results. Not forgetting your invaluable help.
  4. To far for just a weekend. But I know of a very nice couple with a nice dry bedroom.
  5. Now that's a good idea.
  6. Filled in my form. Just need to post and book accommodation for afterwards.
  7. We did. Just need some more English next time to even things up. Nudge! Nudge!
  8. Glad you enjoyed it Tam. Must admit, being my idea I was a bit worried how it would go. I hope you can all come again and bring more with you. I'm thinking of coming up to Scone Palace again, but for the weekend this time and with the Black Horse. Put the date in the up coming shows section.
  9. Manual? What manual? Wasn't a championship match or a race. Just some simple rules, for simple folk to enjoy the day.
  10. I expected to use more fuel. Used just less than half a tank. Low second for most of the day at about half throttle. Used third towards the end with no problems.
  11. I meant to photo the Countax. Very unusual machine for ploughing. I can't remember his name either, or Madjocks.
  12. Paint the diff, Ian. Easier than having to keep polishing it.
  13. The Ransomes, with the heavier ploughs, fared better. There were some hard patches where the combine and tractors had compacted the ground. These caused the lighter ploughs to rise up. But towards the end, with many adjustments to my plough by Madjock, we achieved some nice furrows. Brain can't have been working, Jonathan. Who came first?
  14. That's a handy sized tipping trailer.
  15. I did indeed enjoy the day. It was grand off the Scots lads to come down. Especially all the way from Perth. They were good company and helpful. I'll say nothing about them going home with arms full of raffle prizes. Bit like the Border Reivers of old. Some more photo's. My split. Tam. (Ransomes Plooman.
  16. Some photo's. Many thanks to Tam and Madjock for valuable advice and assistance.
  17. T missing, Rhys. Should have read nowt. You've a year to get your plough sorted.
  18. Jonathan's being modest. He's not letting on he came first in class after Tam (Ransomes Plooman) gave him some tuition. Tam came second and says that he's telling Jonathan now more. I'll put a report and some photo's up later.

Looks really good. Can I borrow it for tomorrow's ploughing match.
  20. Coming on grand. Still can't stop thinking halftrack though.
  21. Thanks for the info, Will. I can see now how it works.
  22. I know nothing about these engines, but to me it sounds as if the timing is well out.
