  1. Got a match at Brisco, Carlisle end of the month. Hope it stays dry.
  2. Bit of progress today. All bolted together and studs fitted to fasten to the wheels. And they fit. Gap at the top is because no nuts are fitted at the back. They each weigh about 25lb. Next job is to add more weight.
  3. It was his soaked in oil comment that made me think foam, Richard. Anyway, it'll be one or 'tother.
  4. The air filter is foam and can be cleaned. It sounds as if it is in need of it. Wash it in hot soapy water, allow to dry. Apply some engine oil to it then squeeze out the surplus.

    What Model?

Probally gone to pastures new long ago. The tractor I mean. We know Rod did.
  6. Yes! And I'm not telling yet.
  7. I can't help thinking when I see the photo's, of the hobby horses of the '50's. You sat on it and moved up and down. This moved the legs, which had wheels on and it moved forward.
  8. Rear wheel weights are something I've been wanting for some time. Now and then various ideas have crossed my mind, but I've never got around to actually doing anything. Art, (Old Tankman), put up a post on some he'd made. That was the kick I needed. The other day I acquired a pair of rear discs/drums off a Land Rover Freelander, out off the scrap bin at my local Land Rover specialists. The disc fits nicely into the outer edge of the Wheel Horse rear wheel. Today, while visiting a local engineering workshop, I left with two of these pulleys. The pulleys also fit nicely into the inside of the wheels. If you look closely, you will see two small holes in the drum. There's actually four and they are pilot holes for bolt holes to fasten disc/drum to pulley. You can see the four corresponding punch marks in the pulley. They are now drilled and ready for bolting together. Next I drilled four more holes in the pulleys for studs to bolt the finished weights to the wheels. These were spot drilled using a spare wheel as a jig. They were then drilled for tapping out 10mm. Here I hit a problem. I've a fair collection of taps, UNC, BSF, UNF, Metric and BSP. Believe it or not, NO 10mm taps to be found.
  9. Good job done there. Credit to you.
  10. Two ideas I like there, Art. I've a lot of scrap lead. All I need are the discs.
  11. Grand job, Darren. Pleased you got it started.
  12. He wouldn't take it out of the van at home. Can't think why.
  13. I see you use the same paint I do.
  14. J type. There's a TK to the right of the Volvo.
  15. They have some nice machines over the border, Harry. If that's the John Deere I think it is, ploughing with that all day, you'd end up with your right arm having muscles like Popeye.
  16. You going to call it Rudolph, Joseph?
  17. Thanks George. I can only get just over 5" at the moment with those tyres on. I'm going to see if I can get some 3-50x10" wheels to lift the front up. Plough should go a bit deeper then.
  18. Thanks for the photo's George. Good horticultural turn out. Looks like the weather was kind. Question. How deep were you ploughing?
  19. Sits back and waits for all the comments from the Bolens boys. May as well put the photo's up now Chris.

    AN OLD RESTORATION

With it being road registered, the DVLA might still have a record of it.
