There's an arts and crafts thing going on here, called C-Art. Various artists, potters, wood carvers/turners etc have opened their doors to the public. So today I have been driving SWMBO, who is of an artistic bent, around several studios. Some this morning and after lunch in a nice pub we know in Lorton, some more. BTW She paid for lunch.
At one painters, with a '71 MGB GT in the yard, I got talking to her hubby. He kindly took me into his garage where resided a frog eye Sprite, Velocette Viper and a Moto Guzzi Monza.
Sorry no photo's. No camera. But it made my day.

It's all back together now ready for the next grass cutting session.

Note to self. Take note of the order things come apart. Then you won't have to take things apart again to fit other bits.

Saw this on R.S. and thought "A Desperado carrier" and a use for the left over front hood section from the 'Shakin Horse'  build, How about one of these for your next project mr Showman?

Bit of a delay with some closing posts on this little project, mainly because I have not had time to get down to finish it.
Back in early July, I obtained a full Muffler Kit to replace the old one, mainly due to the sheared Bolt, but I would've had to pay nearly the same for 2 bolts as the whole Kit !!.
The broken stud came out real easy and I fitted it all up ready to go-

    .
Rear Wheels looked real tatty, so I pulled them to get Sandblasted, primed and repainted. Front Wheels only had bearings cleaned out and re-greased.
Also wanted to clean off and protect the underside while it was bone dry, so I liberally coated it with old Oil and let the surplus drain off for a while (all of August). All the metal is solid and still some original paint under there-

Put the Oil in and fuelled up, took about 3 pulls then burst into life after who knows how long  .
A little Carb tweaking after warm up and then took it for a spin to check the governor response in tall grass,,,, all good and engine is smooth and powerful.
Did about 200 metres of field boundary path cutting and had to call it a day.
Real happy with it and no more strenuous to use than the 1971 JD 624E Tiller I rescued from there a few years ago (I'll get some images of that).

Last year I got a Wheel Horse lawn sweeper. Not that I've got a big lawn, but I cut the grass on the village green.

That's number 3 grandson, not me.

While doing a neighbour a favour by cutting, then sweeping, her very large back lawn/field, one of the brush spindle bearings collapsed. On stripping things down, I found the other bearing not in the best of health either. I knew that getting OE bearings could pose problems, I decided to modify to metric bearings.
The difference in the outside diameters of the OE bearings was 2 thou. Two metric bearings were procured with 35mm o/d. These tapped nicely in to place.

The inside diam is greater than the brush spindles end inserts.

You can see where the worn bearings have scored the inserts. The plan is to turn up two sleeves, that will be heat shrunk onto the inserts, then turned down to suit the metric bearings I/d.

Errr! I mean 3 and 4 jaw chucks.

It is now in place in the workshop. Pity I couldn't have the milling machine that was with it.
