This has to be the nastiest gear box I’ve come across yet. Usually even the bad ones have just dried out grease and gunk that scrapes out or wipes out fairly easily. This one has some kind of strange grease that has basically turned into tar. It’s the thickest, stickiest gunk I think I’ve ever seen. It was so bad it completely prevented anything from moving. It also hasn’t responded well to cleaners or solvents. The little clutch drum is going to be the hardest part to clean. This is going to take some elbow grease to get cleaned up!
Anyone else run into grease that like this, sort of a greenish blue color? I’m guessing it’s either just 50+ yrs of solidifying or someone filled the gearbox with the wrong stuff or both.
All part of the fun...

That’s similar to what I was thinking, there is just enough odd about it. I was guessing that maybe someone rebuilt it or only had a partial saw to start with and then added the switch and cover shield along with a different handle. I’ve yet to see anything like this as an original unit but maybe it is. The decal on the cover plate threw me off too. I’m with you

I’ve seen a few of the Orline Mustang chainsaws recently on eBay and this one came up this week. I was surprised by the level of interest in it vs the others that sat on there for awhile and weren’t generating as much interest. I can’t figure out what the draw is to this specific one. It looks to be in decent condition but I’m guessing it’s also been repainted. The metal cover over the gear box is different but that looks to be hand crafted and not part of the original saw. Is there truly something special about this one that I’m not seeing?

Out of my price range but if someone is looking for a brand new Compact III engine here is a nice one with all the paperwork and original box.

Man, that’s cool! Looks great hanging there. I like how you’ve managed to get paperwork and advertisements for each tool as part of the overall display, really nice touch!
-
I think the sticker on the one I’m referring to looks like the first picture with the silver and blue.
thanks!
-
No photos yet. I may have a line on one but I’m still trying to get more details about it and some photos sent to me.
-
I agree 100%, definitely like the open view of the engine. The one on eBay recently had the little round soup can gas tank, looked great!

Is there anything unique or special about a Tiny Tiger generator that has a blue and silver Techno Elect sticker on it vs the more common band on the generator that has the tiger picture?
-
That’s a really nice outboard! Looks like a complete unit, nice find!

These are really cool, thanks David!
-
Nice, those are elaborate compared to the Murry and other brand pedal cars here in the US during the 50-60s.
-
I haven’t been successful yet finding this type of seal in the unusual sizes for the O&R but will keep hunting, that’s part of the fun!
-
Wow, now those are some serious pedal cars - beautiful works of art!
-
Excellent, I may grab a K10-HDC kit just to have handy.
-
I may have to give an o-ring a try. What about the shaft seal just behind this one that is inside the housing in the groove, can an o-ring be used successfully there?
-
Stumbled across this French site and thought it was a pretty cool little car. Scroll through the photos (pic 8/8) and you’ll see it’s powered by an O&R.

Cool, forgot about that parts engine - nice! I’m assuming a full carburetor overhaul will be in order at some point. I don’t know the condition of the reed valves yet. I probably won’t be tearing into this engine anytime soon but wanted to start getting a jump on likely parts. I see some Walbro HDC repair kits on eBay (part# K10-HDC) but I can’t figure out if they will work on the HDC 6 carb.
-
Webhead,
Do you still have parts for these 20A engines used on the Mark II chainsaws?
Thanks,
Clint

Hello,
Curious if anyone on this chain discussing the Mark II chainsaw has ever ended up rebuilding the HDC 6 carburetor. If so, did you buy a repair kit and do you have the part number? I’ve done some research for the HDC 6 carburetor and all I’m coming up with is a repair kit number of K10-HDC and wondering if this will work.
Thanks,
Clint

Has anyone successfully replaced this little rubber shaft seal (flywheel side) with an O-ring?
-
Great idea, that should be pretty easy to do on a lathe - didnt think of that....
-
I wish I had a trip planned to the east coast with a way to haul everything!
-
Interesting, I haven’t seen one with a blue starter housing before. I think I’ve seen ones with yellow or white. Can’t wait to see photos once it arrives!
