Great find! I think it's a plough off a barford atom, here's one that I had.

We had a nice day yesterday after a few weeks of rain and decided to pull out and chop one of the Birch trees that had fallen in the gill (creek). Bendy was on duty for heavy pulling and the little ranger on tow duty.

I did have to have a quick test of articulation on C4 first - just to test

Carb kit arrived Tuesday, carb rebuilt. Engine runs!
But solenoid is shot and needs a battery too. Once you work out that it has to be in neutral, cutter disengaged, grass box on, sit on seat, etc.... You can make them work!
I can see why so many people bypass the interlocks, it's a pain in the backside! You can't even reverse with the deck engaged!!!
Anyway, we've had a cut out of it, and child no.1 seems to be up for adopting it, it's had a wash and polish!

Now the Cub is coming to my barn to spend some leisure time with the Horses.

I put a bit of text on the picture so I'll remember.

Cub Cadet reacted to expeatfarmer in Ultimate Ransomes Barn Find
I have been down to Dorset this weekend to collect what must be the ultimate in Ransomes barn finds. After some brilliant detective work by my friend Anthony I visited a farm early in the year and discovered not one but three rare Ransomes MG machines. The elderly owner was not really wanting to sell but eventually a deal was made for me to buy two machines and leave him with one that was up and running. The three machines were an MG6 fitted with a Demon loader and petrol TVO engine, the second was a 1957 ITW wheeled tractor fitted with an inboard Boughton winch. This machine was used at Brighton railway station for shunting trucks. Originally fitted with a Drayton diesel engine, the tractor now has a later petrol engine. Fortunately I managed to obtain the original diesel engine which has been very cleverly fitted with a flywheel ring gear and electric starter. The third and possibly most rare machine is an ITC Skimmer tractor an amazing machine used for skimming a shallow layer of sand off water treatment filter beds. This machine is ex Bristol Water and was one of a number sold at the Dorset Steam Fair about 25 years ago. Luckily for me it was towed home into an old barn as a project machine for cleaning out a mill stream that never happened. Much of the actual skimming parts have been removed but thankfully the transmission ,tracks and main chassis are untouched and intact. These machines travel incredibly slowly due to an additional final drive reduction gearbox on each track. The original 600cc petrol engine had to drive the machine, operate the skimming auger and power an elevator that loaded the sand into ITC dumpers. Consequently a number were modified to achieve extra power, this one is fitted with a water cooled crossflow Ford engine which is from  Mk1 escort ( even has a Weber carb. ) The plan is to fit the original diesel to the ITW and use the petrol engine on the skimmer. ( anyone want an escort engine?)
With the 80th anniversary display next year the timing of the find is perfect as I can now guarantee to have at least one of every Ransomes MG machine on display. Hopefully I will have the skimmer mobile under its own power and the ITW driveable pending restoration.

    Apologies should read ULTIMATE

The Cub made it to Rural past times and all went well. I was very pleased as I was a bit worried it wasn't going to be ready. The engine runs sweet as a nut and the transmission drives well however I did notice that the axles were leaking which is a common problem on these as the axle seals going and also the bronze bushes wear. £15 got me both seals and bushes from a local bearing supplier which was much cheaper than genuine.
    Axle carriers off:

Lots of old oil and dirt:

All cleaned up and ready to go back together:

    All finished:

Tested it and no leaks and the axles are perfect now with no play, it is a lot better. The only thing left to do now is change the drive belt as it is quite perished and has a few cracks. I have to admit this Cub is by far my favourite tractor

Some of you know I've been looking to move for over a year, I finally made it last Friday.
So now we are out in the countryside just a few miles from Malham. Scenery fantastic, modern conveniences lacking... We are on bottled water, no mobile, Internet or phone line. And get hot water from a tap if I leave the heating on full!
Huge plus side, no neighbours, lots of countryside, land and areas to play
We've been busy pla...tidying for the last few days. Here's a few pics, I know some of you like them
there's videos too, but currently on free wifi and dont have time.

9am and decided to chance it and have a run down this morning, as it was nice and sunny. 75 plus miles and 1-1/2 hours later I arrived. Still sunny. Met up with Mark Smith (meadowfield) and Ewan (Cub Cadet) and had a bit of a wander round.
They went to pack up the tent and I did a bit more wandering.  It's a big show with plenty to see and well spaced out. BTW. In my rush to leave home I forgot my camera.
I found my way to the Smith camp and met Fatha, (Norlet), and the rest of the clan. That's when the rain started and forgot to stop.
Leaving the Smiths I did a bit more wandering, then left for home.
I may enter and go for the weekend next year. Be cheaper than the £14 to get in.

    Hi all,

Thought I'd share what I've been up to in regards to getting ready for my first show as an exhibitor. I am taking my Cub cadet and Wheel horse 312-8 with a set of discs, a cultivator and a plough. First on the agenda was to get the cultivator and discs to fit the Cub.

    Made this hitch:

    Which resulted in this:

Needs a bit of refinement and a coat of yellow and we will be away. Still awaiting some bits for the Cub but I'm hopeful it will work out fine Next on the list is to hook up the plough to the 312-8..

Cub Cadet reacted to Alan in SQUATTER FOUND TODAY
While at John's today, digging out more of the Bolen Stash, we heard a noise from an old caravan which
had been partly crushed by a tree brought down in a storm a few years ago.

This caravan had been used to store furniture etc and was almost full and very difficult to see inside due
to being covered with undergrowth.  After calling and getting no answer I took a few random flash photo's,
not being able to see much at all, and managed to get a ( not too clear ) picture of the culprit.

The only way we could get this person to emerge, threats to call the police etc had no effect, was to offer
him a cup of tea.  This did the trick and he was out instantly, covered with cobwebs and probably bugs too.

Asked how he got here, guessing he was an illegal immigrant, he said he had stowed away in a red sprinter
van which has been seen nearby on a few occasions recently.

We eventually sent him on his way, but he threatened to return saying that he liked exploring at John's, even
though all of the red stuff has gone.
