Got my stunt drive hard at work leveling out spoil over some virgin ground which were old ruts . Very hard clay ground but the machine coped well. The reduction hubs make such a difference . Thanks John

minky reacted to adgecutler in A couple more implements for the collection :)
Yesterday I collected a front blade/snow plough and a lawn sweeper from a fellow forum member. This morning as it was very wet here I took the opportunity to have a go at fitting the blade, all went well other than a bit of head scratching when I realised the adjusting arm wouldn't fit as it was fouling on the brake pedal. After a short while I realised if I took off the rod guide eyelet and release lever and turned the entire arm so that the dog leg is facing inward (the opposite to how it was) it would fit perfectly, it does. One pin was missing for the lift but luckily I found one of the correct diameter in my box of bits, it just had to be cut to length and drilled for the R pin. Off I went and pushed up the rather large compost heap and was very pleased with the performance. I also assembled the lawn sweep and had a quick play, it works fine but the height adjustment kept jumping out, once again the box of bits was out, and stronger spring fitted and all is well. I also received on Friday my freshly fabricated Clevis hitch which my Uncle started to copy from his original about five years ago! He's made a nice job of it and after a few adjustments to my Mouldbord Plough I was running in some half respectable furrows, I'm even considering entering my local clubs Ploughing match later this year.

minky reacted to Alfiee T in The start of my collection!! Many more to collect. :).
I'm new to this site and thought you guys might like to see my collection so far! Ive got two Mk 3 Trojan Toraktors and a field rider. The field rider is similar to a Mk 4 trojan but slightly better made Id say. It has a little Albion gearbox, wheel weights etc. no one seems to know much about it! All I know is it was produced near to where the Trojans were! It's meant to be the only one left!! It is the only one I've ever seen but there may be more out there!!! If anyone has any information that would be great! I also have a little tipping trailer and a small set of disc harrows! The disc harrows don't look a homemade jobby but if they are then they are very good! Again I know nothing about these!! Let me know what you think!!

Norm, I really like your Raider 10 it looks like a good machine. I am also looking forward to see what you do with it. Somehow it feels satisfying that it is not just Bolens that end up being painted odd colours.
I do like Raider's myself and I have a couple in my collection. For inspiration, a quick picture of my Raider 10 playing out in the sun a few years ago with some of the boys.

minky reacted to meadowfield in If Stormin and Showman can do it... my first time ploughing
I've two mouldboard ploughs and only ever stuck them in the ground a few times, so on the back of Chris great pics - and Ewan wanting to plant potatoes....
Late sunday we hooked up Bendy and went over to the over side of the stream, it's rough grass that never gets animals on, mowed or ploughed.
The first pass went ok, I have to go deep to leave a furrow wide enough for a 12" wheel to fit It was hard going, too high a gear and the engine belt slips. So its a slowly and surely run - until we hit tree roots and rocks.
Here are the pics, enjoy

Got the rims back from the blasters today, much easier than trying to clean them up with sand paper and only cost £20.
A quick dust down, knock a couple of dents out of the edge of the rim and a spot of primer to stop any rust from appearing. If it stops raining i might even get a coat or two of paint on them over the weekend.

minky reacted to Triumph66 in Been a busy Bolens Week......
Well it been a busy week with one thing or another. First I picked up the Bolens H16 in Cornwall, then on Thursday I picked up a Wisconsin engine for Chris in Dorset and then today I picked up a Bolens 600 with implements in Devon. Absolutely shattered with all this travelling coupled with holding down my work load and balancing time with the family. Now relaxing with a glass of red wine or two.
i was was alerted to its existence thanks to Nick, aka wurzel. Chris also texted me enquiring whereabouts was Tiverton. I replied it was a 40 minutes run from me. A deal was worked out between Chris and I. I won the auction after some buttock clenching moments at the end. The deal is that Chris will have the 600 whilst I have the attachments comprising of Brinly plough with sleeve hitch, tiller and cultivator.
The 600 been repowered with a Honda but unfortunately the bonnet been hacked on one side to shoe horn the engine in ( or rather dumped in there). It's a great little beast with character. 600 attachments and fittings are as rare as hen's teeth which is why I went for it. My plan is to clean the plough and treat it with Owatrol and the actual moldboard will be cleaned up and oiled to reduce rusting.
A good week Bolens wise but back to normality on Monday with up the usual routine.

minky reacted to moogie in Single furrow ploughs.
Picked these up today. The more complete one is a Ransomes 10 inch two horse plough and the other is a Pierce of Wexford 8 inch single horse plough.
As the 8 inch Pierce plough has a lot of parts missing, i am going to convert it into something i can use behind the Wheel Horse. The Ransomes will be cleaned up, painted and set in my garden. I suppose you could class these as family heirlooms as the Ramsomes belonged to my grandfather and the Pierce was my great grandfathers.

minky reacted to harryt in Gutbrod 1030
So here is my new addition to the fleet, a gutbrod 1030 with deck. The guy that I bought it off new nothing about it and just fancied buying something to fix. I also bought a Bolens husky 800 off him and a Brinly plow. Overall the tractor is in good original condition about from the paint, it has been painted in the past. It was not working when I bought it as he said it had an electrical fault. However I tested it this morning by putting back together what he had taken apart, fresh fuel and a battery and away it went. It goes through all the gears and mows well. This is my first gutbrod and I am really starting to like them, it is surprisingly fast as well.
I just wanted your opinion on what I should do, keep it as is or restore it, bearing in mind there are not many restored ones out there. Here are a few pictures...

It feels like i have been cleaning and sanding parts forever, but eventually got to the point where i could start to blow on some paint. Made a bit of a spray booth out of the frame of the gazebo and a couple of sheets. Didn't want the workshop covered in over spray.
The Wheel horse now has something that it never had from the factory, primer!

I'm the highest spot in this part of the county, it seems the wind averages about 25 mph every day, but I'm sure its not that high, although last month we had several days of 40 mph+ winds. and its been 15-20 mph for a week.
