    Ransomes ITW

Certainly plenty of Bruno smoke over the last few weeks. ITW fired first pull on the handle this morning , instantly ran on the starter with little smoke. I would have persisted with the manual start but knackered my back yesterday so thought I would save it for Malvern. Nice seat fits a treat.

    Ruston Hornsby APR

Before getting into horticultural machinery I collected stationary engines with my father. Of the engines we own this Ruston Hornsby APR 2 1/2hp model from 1928 is our most rallied engine. The last photo shows it driving our Evans water pump.

I had a tough time deciding on a tractor lug, I finally opted for the 30x10-12 Interco Interforce because it was a good match with my existing wide rear rim on the D series. 142.00 apiece including shipping. I think that is a good price for a real AG tire, they have these in 27x7.5-12 as well.

New Farm Tires for the Wheel Horse D-160

I purchased a set of Deestone AGs several years ago and the lugs wore down in less than two seasons, they were not very deep lugs to begin with and now they are more like racing slicks. They were 6 ply "rated" which means they aren't 6 ply, but they rate them as 6 ply. They were half the price of the Intercos and a tenth of the quality, maybe not that good. Price is relative, quality is not. Many AG tires made for our little machines are cheap and poorly made, especially for the price, I for one consider a tire a one time investment, not a maintenance issue like oil changes. A tire worth buying ought to last at least 10 years, hopefully twice that.

No, it's not Iain this time! Even more local, it's amazing how close other collectors are without you even knowing! Tom

    Ransomes MG2 number 137

Mr/Mrs Mouse had packed them in well. I got three or four good handfuls. I think it got a bit confused though. A small piece of gravel was mixed in with the nuts.

    New workshop

Short on updates, but decided I needed a proper brew area in the workshop. I recycled two very nice pieces of solid oak and beech worktop for a kitchen area. Bought a hot water heater too, so I no longer need to wash in the stream
