The weather was superb today prompting a turn out of some 65 tractors to compete. 6 machines in the horticultural class I went along for fun with the MG40N and a trailed plough just to keep Stormin happy, I really enjoyed it once I had sorted a seized disc swivel. Thanks to Tam Tweedie for the tuition. His MG6 and TS42 plough looked really tidy. Prize for best turn out must go to Norm though the black horse looked spotless and performed really well shame Norman was poorly. The small tractors attracted a lot of interest and showed that they were well able to keep up with the big boys. I was really pleased that I managed to achieve a last furrow for the finish that was straight, parallel and 12" wide but when I tried to plough it out the plough kicked over sideways and missed a bit in the middle.

Jonathan's being modest. He's not letting on he came first in class after Tam (Ransomes Plooman) gave him some tuition. Tam came second and says that he's telling Jonathan now more. I'll put a report and some photo's up later.

I've really struggled with the issue of painting for many reasons. First, I want the type and quality of paint to be the same as original, not better, not worse, not different, if at all possible. Second i don't want a trailer queen and i think if I had it painted up, I might not use it. Lastly, I'm not sure that keeping it original isn't the right thing to du as in old furniture. You know what I mean. I have somewhat restored my Massey MF-16 and My Bolens H16, but all other are as I found them as far as paint is concerned.

I would try to find something bigger, and a tandem, even if I had to make it. something like the Brinly I have on the Ariens or the Cub Cadet tandem disc , or a cut down section of farm disc. The extra width and second row will really mulch things up.

Working the Ariens and Allis Tractors

I'm the highest spot in this part of the county, it seems the wind averages about 25 mph every day, but I'm sure its not that high, although last month we had several days of 40 mph+ winds. and its been 15-20 mph for a week.

You would be surprised how well a tandem disc works after plowing, it will do nearly as well as a rotavator with less moving parts and far less crowns.

I bought 4 of these rear lights for my D's, they look almost like the OEM lights, but are 6 LED models, 5.39 each and free shipping.

I'm going to keep it barn fresh for the most part, at least that's the plan. I have another set of rear tail lights that look almost identical, but are LED, and I will be mounting a rear work light and a directional hand adjusting spotlight to the left side of the dash cowl. It will get the lower dash from the Onan powered tractor that has the electric PTO switch, and it will get a single pulley electric PTO on the front rather than the stock Manual pulley, that set up will go on the other D-160

    Gutbrod 1032

Hi All, just thought I would introduce my Gutbrod 1032. i have restored it completely then modified it to suit my purposes. I move my 22ft caravan with it. It looks a bit odd but dose the job. I was having trouble at low revs having to slip the clutch so I fitted a 16hp honda copy engine. It has hydraulic rear linkage, 55amp alternator and I have just managed to fit Barford Atom 15 wheel weights . giving me 32kg each side plus water balasted rear wheels. It will now plough solid clay without having to use diff lock. I hope this dosn,t offend the purests with all the mods but it dose the jobs i require of it Just need a Rotovator now !

I did wonder what you were planning as over this week end I was pulling some logs and one sliped and smashed the back light on my C-160 AUTO but I've been searching for an original but they all seem a lot of money for something that could easily get broken again, and they are hard to find. I prefer the barn find look if its not to rusted and damaged! that's why im reluctant to restore mine, but it does get a beating in the woods when I use it! Regards Joe
