4 pointsHave been busy the last couple of weeks but have been making some progress with this project. I had some off cuts of timber left over from a job, ideal to make into the trolley for the Villiers...... Also found a company selling small cast wheels for a few pounds each....... Wheels and trolley are almost ready for the engine to be bolted on!

Ian and 2 others reacted to meadowfield for a post in a topic
Some of you may know I work a long way from home, and play the part of call centre for many family tech issues, as well as remote bicycle repair man and occasional mower won't start... Last weeks call was... 'dad, do you think this is fixable?' the part in question being a 1970 lawn ranger tow hitch. I'll let you guess my reply Apparently the trailer rolled with 400lbs of dirt in... -

country life... the joys of

We are almost two years into our current house and loving the yorkshire dales. We live fairly off grid, only mains electric and rudimentary telephony. I finally added a water filter to our supply the other month. and changed the filter after 3 weeks!!! we've been drinking this stuff god only knows what it does to the insides of pipes, etc. All has been well for a for weeks until we noticed a very wet spot outside, and the ground is cracked all around. Cue, starts looking for unknown pipe... found it! after lots of bailing water, we find an old 1-1/14" compression joint that has corroded away. it was late saturday afternoon, so we had no choice but to borrow a fitting from the sheep feeder up the lane - sorry sheep! Another maintenance job complete -
3 pointsBeen at a bit of a loose end whilst waiting for paint to dry on my Gem, so have sorted out the engine, and have managed to nearly straighten the drum. Last picture is my little helper/ hinderence.

3 pointsJust to let you know I followed all your advice regrinding both valves, decoking the head, replacing the plug, diaphragm and gaskets. The mower now starts easily and as soon as the new belt and blades arrive I hope to put it to work.

1 pointYes you really did read the title right, I am selling Project Why Not.. Why am I selling? Two reasons.. One being to fund my next WH project, the other reason is being riddled in arthritis driving her on anything other than somewhere nice flat and smooth just gives me too much pain.. And there's only so many times I can drive her around the carpark For those who havn't seen this machine yet the full build can be found here.. Project Why Not build thread A few spec's for you.. Custom build chassis/frame. Honda GL500 water cooled V twin engine with 5 speed trans. A very narrow Reliant Rialto rear axle with drum brake. Austin A35 steering box. Custom build adjustable front end with hand made brake discs Ford Cardinal red paint, International Harvester white wheels. Top speed about 85mph with the current rear tires.. (fit 24inch tal tires and it should top 100mph!) She could do with a new seat, the engine has a slight oil leak around the clutch cover, and the paint isn't quite as nice as it once was. £3000 or sensible offers. Here's a few photo's taken Friday, I will get some better ones in the sun tomorrow.

1 pointThat was the second wash today. Chris didn't get photo's first time. Tractor looked so good afterwards that we thought it should stay down south. There's an old Westwood at John's which would make a good substitute.
