  1. Bob, You’re right about shipping costs these days, they’re definitely high. That’s partly why I hope I can work something out for myself to come out your way so I could have time to pack things up properly and deal with blades and stuff like that. I need to look at your photos again to get a better idea of quantity and scale of what all you have. I’ll keep at it. The company I work for has an office in Boston so I just need to put together a trip requiring me to come out that way. I could easily arrange a side visit so that I could maybe spend a Friday evening and the better part of a Saturday out at your place getting things packed up. Clint
  2. Happen to find a good deal on a coil on eBay so now I have a spare if needed.
  3. David, Thank you, this is very helpful. I can’t believe you even have service bulletins about decals the black background looks tempting. I’ll have to position both labels and see which looks better. Clint
  4. I may have to look into that option. I’ve never tried to arrange something like that but I bet there is a business out there that does those sorts of things. Clint
  5. David, That would be really cool. I don’t have enough scrap parts or engines to do that yet but a cut-away engine display would be a fun project.
  6. This would be a neat find, an O&R engine cut-away display. https://photobucket.com/gallery/user/Hodakaguy/media/bWVkaWFJZDo5OTcxOTI0/?ref=
  7. The decal on the front of the pull starter is completely faded on my trimmer. Normally I would leave everything in as-found condition but I might go for a new decal on this one since the faded sticker is quite unattractive and the rest of the trimmer is in pretty decent shape. I’m thinking someone must have wiped it ei5 some harsh chemicals or something at one point to clean it and basically erased the lettering. The rest of the paint looks to be original and is in too good of condition for this to be sun fading damage. Does anyone know if this model would have used the label with silver background and black lettering or the black background with white lettering? I personally think the black background and white lettering would look nice since the other Orline decal on the side of the gearbox is black with white lettering. Thanks!
  8. Thanks Bob! I gotta get something set up soon so I can get out your way. It’s driving me nuts that I’m not closer to your neck of the woods. Clint
  9. Hello Bob, I apologize we haven’t touched base recently but I’m still very interested in your collection of tools and parts. I’m still hoping I can get out to Boston on a business trip and maybe swing by to meet you. Please don’t let anything end up in the scrap yard. We will figure something out even if I have to make a road trip Thanks, Clint
  10. I bet you’re right, between the flimsy frame and all the plastic shrouds they probably didn’t fair well. Would be fun to see a picture of a real one though...
  11. Very nice, can’t wait to see the whole thing put back together!
  12. Just did another carburetor rebuild and learned something that might be a helpful tip when getting to the step where you run the filament under the fingers of the retainer spring. If you loop some filament under the pivot roller before sliding the spring in it makes it easier to get the filament under the fingers. You simply put the spring in between the loop and then slide the loop forward as the spring goes under the roller.
  13. The valve on one of my carburetors has a tiny groove machined into the needle section. Is this the needle referred to in this notice? There is no other indication of a “X” anywhere on it that I can find.
  14. Curious if anyone has, or has ever seen, the little O&R water pump called the One-By-One made by Lancaster or the Sno-Tiger (not sure who made it) which looks to be some sort of mini snow blower.
  15. https://www.pinterest.com/craigowens79/garage-scenes/ I thought I would try again but I’m not sure if it will show up with this link or not. After looking at it again I’m guessing it’s just someone’s custom mount for displaying the engine and not necessarily a mounting as part of the original application.

John, WOW- those are absolutely amazing! You’re incredibly talented my friend
  17. This is fantastic - thank you David! I appreciate you going to the trouble to provide this information. It’ll be very helpful as I go to put this trimmer back together. Clint
  18. David, That’s awesome - I really appreciate you going to all that effort! It’s always so helpful to have some of the exploded views to know what you’re getting into along the way. The engine type on my Orline trimmer is a Type 224. Much appreciated- thanks! Clint
  19. David, Do you by chance have any of this kind of information or technical bulletins for the following tools: Tote’n Comet Circular Saw, Drillgine or Orline Hedge Trimmer? Clint
  20. Ha ha, yea to make things worse I actually knew about it before he listed it as I was communicating with him on some other stuff so I had a heads-up and I still missed it. I was also still pretty green about all the O&R stuff at that point too and didn’t know what things were rare... glad it went to a proper home!
  21. Too funny, yes that was the one. Just as I was getting ready to bid it ended- glad you were the one that ended up with it! I’ve bought a few parts and I think the Landscaper 600 engine from him as well.
  22. It was a different photo. I can’t seem to access the website again for some reason. I’ll keep trying and hopefully be able to send a link.
  23. Yes, that very well could be the one. I’ll have to ask Wallfish
  24. Our company just released a new TPU elastomer material for our 3D printers. I’ll have to look at the chemical resistance specs. This would be a great application! The Plasti Dip idea is a good one too!
  25. Overall it looks to be in pretty good shape. I haven’t opened up th engine yet to see how that looks. The exhaust and muffler were really caked up with carbon, worst I’ve seen yet on one of these tools.
