The last episode of that series does if my memory is any good.
It's a comedy history of Britain, there was another for Shakespeare.

Philomena Cunk's (not her real name) 'moments of wonder' was originally a mock-u-mentary segment of the Charlie Brooker TV series 'Screenwipe' & later 'Newswipe' which also featured Barry Shitpeas (another made up name) and US comedian Doug Stanhope, I wish they would make some more.

This would be a way to pull in some extra money on the side. Maybe one of you chaps could start a mobile milling service

This is a XL-102 Automatic, its a 1970 saw weighing 11 pounds and has 57cc with auto oiler and manual over ride. These were only made in 1970 and 1971 I have one from both years. I couldn't get NOS decals so I had to do the best I could. Still need to install the carb and find a appropriate spot on the shelf. Last picture is what the saw looked like before

I'd hazard a guess and say yes. Behind that, there looks as what could be the headstock of a small shaping machine.

BTW Alain. That is what we call a lathe. A turning machine.

Alexis de Tocqueville  was sent to America in 1831 by the French government to study many aspects of our government and wrote a book about his findings and comparing them to some of the problems Europe was facing due to a socialistic government. He believed one day America would fall to the same ways as more people demanded more for doing less. We are arriving at that state as we speak.

For the moment I have ordered one of the newer shaped aftermarket ones. I will be looking for a original but as you said, I will need to save up some money first.

In this country we have the extra joy of the Post Office for anything ordered overseas, unless it comes via ebay Global Shipping. Before Christmas I ordered something overseas which cost me £12, the Post Office then charged me £2 import duty and £8 handling fee, plus 20% tax, giving an overall import cost of £12 - 100% increase on the initial purchase price. The Post Office does have a massive hole in its pension scheme which it needs help with, but this is taking the biscuit.

Those aren't cheap, hope you can source an aftermarket part, some of the original NOS stuff goes right of 60 dollars US, even aftermarket ones go 30

    Tractor on fire

We rebuilt the fuel system and fitted a new fuel pipe on the D160. We then connected a new battery and started it up. It ran well for a couple of minutes, then smoke and flames started coming from under the battery tray. We switched the tractor off and investigated. The regulator had shorted out and ignited debris. It was a bit of a shock but fortunately only a new regulator is required, unless it has killed the stator.

Got the wiring done today. Found a couple of dodgy connections but everything works ok. Put a battery on, some petrol in and with a bit of persuading it started up. Played about adjusting the carb and got it running something like.
Had to take the fuel pump off as it had a bit of a leak. Re-sealed it and that's sorted. Had a spare spring I couldn't think where it belonged. Turned out it was off the P.T.O. lever. So that's back on where it belongs.
At one point I knelt on the floor and something stuck me in the knee. Turned out to be a front wheel nut. Silly me hadn't tightened them up. They're tight now and the rear ones checked. They were ok.
The leak from the sump is barely discernible. No drips. Should be fine till I source a replacement pan.
      So nearly there.

In their day those diesel Westwoods were not exactly a “happy” machine. Rather typical of a diesel lump being dropped into a petrol chassis. Later on Countax had the same issue putting the Yanmar lump into the A20/50.  Westwoods suffered bad vibration, broken fuel pipes and chafed wiring and then ,  Fire!  If one saw a burnt out Westwood it was invariably a diesel!

Got a bit more done today. Engine back on and engine covers fitted, along with the recon carb off Anglo Traction.

I have found there's still a slight trace of a leak from the sump. So I think I'll have to find a replacement.

Very nice upcoming projects, looking forward to all, but especially the Westwood diesel.
