Number one grandson's fiancé got left we us for the afternoon. She showed great interest in the tractors. She doesn't drive, so some instruction on driving was done.

Originally 12 ducklings. These four have survived cats, crows and magpies. There is another family, with at the last, count seven ducklings.

Finally, SWMBO and number two grandson arrived home on Friday with Timothy.

looks like it woundnt pull the skin off a bowl of custard to be honest! suprised it can turn the oversize wheels, it looks like a 2hp honda, plus because he's changed the engine it wont run pto attachments anymore, the bonnets been hacked for the fuel filler, andf the thottle levers been bodged , but these are just points to haggle the price down with, i've bought worse!

I've been informed that the skimmer has been successfully loaded and is on it way to me, unfortunately it was loaded with a telehandler so not sure if it rolls (guessing brake bands are siezed from standing) will get some pictures tomorrow afternoon when it arrives.

As some of you know, we are rebuilding ewans cub and engine.
Whilst undoing one of the head bolts it sheared off. We tried welding a nut, but it sheared below.

So I ground the top and tried to drill it.... The welding has hardened the bolt so it couldn't be drilled  we bought a carbide drill and set to. It all went well until the drill snapped in the block.... Double doh!

Fortunately we managed to get the end to drop into the exhaust port. So ran another drill through and then started to clean out the threads.

Until snap! The tap snapped when it hit the curve of the exhaust port. Not happy, desperation saw me drill the tap with a carbide pcb drill, three 1mm drills later I managed to break the tap up in the hole and into the exhaust port.

I was going to give up last week, but it shows that a bit of perseverance pays off!

I put the lawn mower plug in the rotovator, after mowing the lawn and nothing.

I put the plug from the rotovator in the mower and it started first time.

What next.  I wonder if its spark isn't strong enough. although it gives me a belt when I hold the end of the cable and plug at the same time.

I picked up this Ferguson TEA-20 the other day along with a few other goodies, (posted on here somewhere) I haven't managed to found much out about the tractor as of yet, only that it was sold new local to me, (SUSSEX TRACTORS LTD, 33 THE HIGH STREET UCKFIELD) I received the log book the other day and I am the 6th owner from new, the old boy I brought it from had owned it since January 1999. Ill keep this thread going with the stages from  the restoration,

I started on it this week and have replaced the head gasket along with all the other top gaskets (Manifolds, Thermostat, Rocker Cover etc) The head gasket was leaking quite badly and when I removed the head it was clear why... none of the other gaskets needed replacing but seeing it come in a kit with all the new top end gaskets I replaced them whilst I was there... I finally got it back together this afternoon and took it for a nice drive this evening, no leaks from any of the gaskets!  Next on my list is to replace all the filters and change the engine oil, and then change the transmission/hydraulics oil, once I've done that I will then be ordering lots of new bits and start to get it ready for painting and refitting all new shiny bits once its painted up!

    I'll keep you updated!

The little man got a bit excited when he knew he was going out on 'fergie'

Oh and he tried telling me how to fix it with his screwdriver!
