Thanks Mark... I do need to get the Akerman angles sorted.. Good steering would be kinda handy for the high speed runs That would ruin the look Norm.. I will just have to move all the trees, people, cars, odd object to taste, that might be in the way during the drive It's good to know there are at least three of us here who have made a slight er.. Error whilst building steering I did look at putting the steering quadrant thingy underneath, but there just isn't the ground clearance, only 1/2 inch at best! Thanks James.. Hi all, I picked a wheel horse sickle bar up today, I'm pretty certain its wheel horse anyway. It's a cool bit of kit but I know nothing about these and I know I'm missing quite a few parts but it's a long term project I suppose. I'm not planning on restoring it as I reckon it would clean up nice. What do you think guys? Tom

well today i bled the brakes put the fuel tank back on after fixing the hole in it new leads,dizzie etc and took it for a drive, it goes realy well on and off road, ians taken some vidio footage which will be posted shortly i am very pleased with it so what next !

I have sold and fitted hundreds of them. Works perfectly on all K series with magneto coils, takes about as long to fit as to fit points and a condenser, once it is fitted just forget about it. Engine will start easier and run smoother. When I go out to non starters I do not waste a micro second on points and condenser, I automatically change to electronic ignition. The issue that I have is with the poor quality of the points that are being manufactured today, watch the moving side of the points floating about whilst you are trying to set the ignition timing. The module does not vary the ignition timing, it senses peak voltage in the magneto coil generated by the fixed flywheel magnets then triggers ignition. If you put a strobe timing light in the circuit you will see that the timing is dead on at all rpm. The Mighty Atom modules that where developed and made in Australia have not been about for sometime, they worked on similar principles to the one I sell. By the way the picture is copy righted. Mike

Yeah the old girls does look a bit rough. I've heard it said that "If it casts a shadow, it can be restored". One good thing is that the hydraulic stabilizers on the hoe indicate that it's one of the later ones, and they made improvements in them over time.

I have just managed to obtain a new project, it is the earliest known surviving MG2 number 36 off the line in 1936, I bought it from a chap I met at Tractor World. 2016 is the 80th anniversary of the Ransomes crawler. The plan is to stage a display at the 2016 tractor World of at least one of every model MG tractor that Ransomes built, my aim is to totally restore 137 and display at the show. I have yet to finalise the detail of the display with Mark Woodward but if any other MG owners would be interested in joining the display please let me know. It would be fantastic to gather as many MG2 as we can alongside the other models. They do not need to be restored, original condition and patina of age is great. Dates are March 12th and 13th 2016 at the Malvern Three Counties Showground, the display will be inside.

Thanks all for the positive comments, I really appreciate it. Also thanks for the links to manual and pictures, I've learnt a lot about it just in the space of 5 minutes of flicking through various manuals and pictures. It seems I am missing a pulley assembly and a lift rod, well that's what I've found so far. I may have a lead on a pulley assembly but it's early days yet, I will keep you all posted.. Tom

Another day on the trannys, out of 4 i have found 2 casings with good ball bearings in and have cleaned them both up in the parts washer, ordered all new needle bearings and oil seals from my local bearing shop. They have them all in stock at another branch and i will have them Wednesday, ive made a new gasket so at a standstill until they arrive

I made the same steering mistake on a hydroplane I was racing many years ago. First race I went to leave the pits on full throttle and the boat headed straight towards a jetty instead of the pit exit. The jetty cleared of people quickly and despite my assurance that it would be fine and that I would just steer the opposite way, I was banned from the event. That made me cracked up about you offering to steer the other way! Very funny!

Ian, looks like I am a bit late to offer a suggestion, but I was thinking that you could put the wheel brackets on the back of the wheels at the bottom (rather than the top) and then just point your point your WH steering bracket thing down rather than up. This would only work if you have the space under the chassis.
