    Plough.

At the Newby Hall show, The Showman brought up a plough for me he'd collected from Alans friend John. Last night on reading young Toms post on preparing for Rural Past Times, I was hit by inspiration. Doesn't happen often. Off into the workshop I hastened, and the plough, all in bits, was roughly put together. Today a trip up to the farm for some scrap metal. Back home I set too. The result is below. I could do with some heavier gauge cable for the lift, I haven't got any. Or chain and run it through a custom tube? I have the bits for that. Or make a solid bar mechanism? I have some bits for that. I may also shorten the arm by an inch or two, where it goes down to the shoe. Give a bit more ground clearance when raised. Decisions! Decisions!

    Project "Why Not"

Thanks Max, yeah the speed runs will be fun Ouch your internet is slow! Do you think I could hire myself out as a muck spreader? Hi Andrew, I'm not sure air horns will be needed... The loud exhaust and manic laughing is sure to get peoples attention It's been a busy few days in the workshop, with Rural Past Times coming up I was even in the workshop Sunday! The wiring was 99.9% done by Sunday lunch time, just one safety switch to fit when I get it.. So I spent the rest of the day fabricating this.. Now you see a mess of wiring.. Now you don't A closer view for you. A lot of template making time went into getting the side panel looking just right.. Speaking of templates, here's the right side template taking shape. Transfer to steel. Bung steel in the sheet metal folder.. Fold a 90 degree bend.. And then forget to take photo's of the other stages, so have an almost finished side panel shot instead I didn't get as much done today as I would of liked, but some more panel work has been done. A top cover for the main body tub was made, and as the fender pan sits a bit lower than the body tub I made a curved panel thingy to help blend the two heights together.. It will also add strength to the front of the fender pan when it's fully welded on. A view from afar.. Pete dropped in for a visit today which resulted in the fuel tank being removed!! The reason? Well, Pete had not heard WN running and as I needed to check my slimmed down wiring loom still worked and I didn't cut out anything that I shouldn't of, we decided to fire her up.. It was at this time that the leak free tank decided it wanted to start leaking, and I started to wish I had put the tank sealer in that I had bought!! Then I had a better idea.. Unless WN's engine is warm she has always had a bit of a starting problem with fuel not getting to the carbs.. The problem is the tanks fuel tap is below the carb fuel inlet.. Even though the actual tank is above the fuel inlet and logic says that gravity will do it's thing and get fuel to the carbs through a looped pipe, gravity seems to have other ideas! Also when I tried to drain the tank I found the vacuum side of the fuel tap wasn't working that well! So the plan is to cut off the old fuel tap, weld the hole up and fit a new fuel outlet at the base of the front face of the tank which is the side facing you.. This will put the tank outlet above the carb inlet The only problem is the tank was half full of fuel today, so after draining and soaking up the last dregs of fuel with a rag, I filled the tank up with a water 1001 stain remover solution... I know washing up liquid is traditional, but I didn't have any.. All being well any fuel vapors will be gone by Thursday when I'm at the workshop next, and I can cut and weld it without fear of being blown up!

    Yellow Mower Challenge!

Finished Stitching up the canvas to frame over the weekend after pinching the base edges (makes a change from me being stitched up!) . The before pics in post 98 near the bottom of page 5. As now- Going to string the next job out (no pun intended). Probably take the support cord from both frame corners of the 'Catcher' to a single point on the Handlebar joint, the cord needs to be adjustable. At the mercy of 'Villiers parts' for a delivery so I can change the Piston over and fit the Cylinder/Reel.

    Wheelhorse front wheel shims

Hello Ray, I can't remember what Model you may have?. Does it have Bolt/Washer (pre 76ish) or 'C' Clip (post 76) Retainers for the wheels?. I may have enough shims to sort your dilemma. Good to see your trying to set them up correctly

    Preparation for Rural past times

Hi all, Thought I'd share what I've been up to in regards to getting ready for my first show as an exhibitor. I am taking my Cub cadet and Wheel horse 312-8 with a set of discs, a cultivator and a plough. First on the agenda was to get the cultivator and discs to fit the Cub. Made this hitch: Which resulted in this: Needs a bit of refinement and a coat of yellow and we will be away. Still awaiting some bits for the Cub but I'm hopeful it will work out fine Next on the list is to hook up the plough to the 312-8.. Tom

Your plough is the same as mine. I did think of using the pin hole and I understand what you mean. I'll have to have a re-think. How much sideways movement do you have? You've got 17 days.

    C-120 refurb.

Got the rear tyres fitted today. For £10 why struggle? Got the lift cable fitted as well. 3mm stainless with a plastic coat. Also a photo' of the brake pedal stop. Not very good to see, but best I could do. Pedal came a long way back. Just made out of a piece of alli' angle cut to suit.

slf-uk, on 16 Jul 2015 - 9:54 PM, said: I've made an adapter thingy to power the air horns from one of the rear tyres... Be better if you made an adapter to plug into the drivers rear end. The faster "Why Not" went, the louder the air horns. The downside is that the pipework would need clearing of liquid manure after every run. Worth a thought though.

Does anyone know where i can find some 10" diameter PVC pipe or similar, that doesn't cost too much? I only need a foot in length total. For your viewing pleasure.

I did it again, More Wheel Weights

I never got the Bolens, The ad expired and I couldn't get a contact number. This Allis was one of the first Simplicity built Allis tractors since 1966, it has a Sunstrand hydro and a electric lift in it, I have a rear one point lift, 46 inch front dozer blade, and 42 inch mid mount scraper blade with it as well.
