8 pointsAfter many months of fun I have decided it's time to start the restoration, here's some pictures of what it's been up to before the strip down. Just before the strip down. First the fenders, seat pan and bonnet were removed to make things more easily accessible. The front grill was removed and the engine bolts undone so that the engine would slide forward and disengage from the clutch. I then lifted out the engine, took out the steering column and removed the dash tower Next I tipped the tractor on its side to make the linkages easier to get to, with a bit of heat and patience it all came apart. I then drained the oil from the transmission and removed the chassis from the transmission, next job is to remove the axel pin which is rusted solid and is proving to be a real pain

These are a couple of young lads from our side of the sheugh who go to vintage events and do silage demos. There other videos show them in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDyA4Dfv6pU&feature=youtu.be At the start of the below video you can see my daughter and myself in the background. Korin is in the green and yellow overalls and i am standing directly behind her. At 3:19 you can also see Gary (Minky) sitting on his Bolens HT20 in the background. https://youtu.be/qthw0vEr-8E https://youtu.be/Lh0X-HUD838 https://youtu.be/Nj9S6xzNhQM Edit, Other videos added. -

The title says it all, Ewan has spent half the summer on his cub. We've not got much footage, a bit of a play on a rainy Boxing Day seemed like a good idea. Until he conked out The little cub was towed back to the shop and Ewan will no doubt be doing a restore thread -

I think we paid around £800 for it, which was a lot. But it's all original with three point and road registered. Ewan just had to have it, no Idea where he gets these whims from.... -

Slightly better angle... -
1 pointTake lots of close-up pictures of everything you can Ewan, that way you can reference it. I always forget to take pictures and have to buy another tractor to put mine back together, at least that's the story I've been able to get away with for some time.

1 pointPower has been restored, and back poor is drained. The problem with this home started when it was built in 1966, they scraped the grass off the ground and built the house on a cement slab BELOW grade. In Oklahoma we have a history of poor education that started before the turn of the century. In fact before 1907 white children could not go to school unless their parents home schooled them or paid to build a school, only Indian children had public schools. This translated into a lack of education in white (non indigenous) people living in Oklahoma born in the 1930's and 1940's and still effects the population today. We do not have many basements in Oklahoma due to the lack of skilled and educated craftsman, even in the 1920's and 1930's they were building houses on top of rock (just plain rocks) piers paced on the corners and inside the floor area, and using tin roofs.

Sounds as though it may be similar to Owatrol which can either be added to paint or applied by itself as a patina preserver. This cultivator was just given a wash with hot soapy water and the a coat of Owatrol to preserve the original rust, paint and patina, preventing further deterioration . -
1 pointNice video.Wish I had a place like that to go for a drive.

1 pointI would steer clear of dipping ones toes in that top vid , well at least till they switch off the juice . That his soo tragic , my heart goes out to all those that have suffered from this years floods. I know only too well how devastating it can be to be under water. Let's hope the government help these people ,but I do fear they are in for a bit of a battle.
