7 pointsWere at the good bit already Hi Mark, yep we will be wanting decals soon.. I have a few ideas Thanks Alain With HG pulled apart the fun job of cleaning and repainting loads of parts could start... The gearbox gets it's first coat of red oxide.. It always amazes me how a quick coat of paint can make something look a 1000 times better Before we went any further with painting we thought we should get the front axle off!! The axle pin had other ideas and refused to move using all the normal methods, i.e a large hammer and block of wood.. Soooo.. Time for some welding.. One very large steel bar welded to the axle pin! The heat from welding wasn't enough to talk the pin into moving, so it got more heat.. Until eventually the pin decided it had had enough and finally twisted loose then out! Yesterday also marked another milestone... Yep the first coat of shiny paint went on.. IH red which I had left from painting the 6x6 all those years ago.. Not too bad after the first coat. Waiting for red oxide to dry on the chassis.. The front axle got it's first top coat too..

Made a start to my stove today. Had to have a change of plans as i couldn't get a cutting of box section big enough, needed a bit 12in or bigger. So, plan B. Had a look about to see what i could use and decided to go the gas cylinder route. After deciding on the orientation of the stove i marked out the door size, then cut down the hinge side and welded on two trailer hinges. Then cut free the remaining three sides. Found an old grate and tin pan and cut to fit. Didn't want it to sit on the floor so raised it up on 16in legs. Ran out of welding wire so thats the end of progress for today. -

Today started with the chassis getting lightly cooked to help the top coat stick.. That's the underside done.. It's about this point that Nigel is wondering if I'm going to post a certain photo that if seen could be the end of the "hard man" image The wheels got a coat of IH white paint, yes it was also left from painting the 6x6 Top of the chassis top coated.. Fresh red steering parts. Red parts everywhere! Not red parts! The wheels did come up very nice, it's a shame the photos a bit blurred.. And to finish this update... Yes more red parts, prop shaft and a second coated gearbox.. As for that certain photo..... Yes that is Nigel hoovering! The red oxide may of been quite a thick coat Norm -

So frustrating when you know this engine has probabley not run for fourty years, there is a combination of fueling ignition timing and sod' s law that will make it run but I have the blisters on my right hand to show that it is not going to give in without a fight. -

My father has an XL120 saw. It's in ok condition for the age. We got it up and running after sitting for quite a few years. Just drained and cleaned the tank and carburetor. Took two pulls and off it went. I couldn't believe the power this thing has. The new battery pack tools ain't got nothing on these. I'm looking to throw it up on EBay. Anyone know if they are bringing any kind of money? -

Slow progress, what with Xmas and all that. We got distracted with the centre support column and decided it would make a good drill stand/bench grinder stand/ power point. -

ill certainly try it! just soaked them with coke, apparently it works! anyway i'm making a contraption to put over the cylinders to push the two down forcing the other two come up slowly, hopefully doing it every carefully it will free the rings on the cylinder from the liners, Ive done it before on a 3 cylinder perkins engine that was seized and it worked, so hopefully it will again! Regards Joe does anyone else on the forum own a FE35 or a TO35? -
1 pointJust watching a repeat of a repeat of Salvage Squad and they have a stuck four cylinder lump from a Tiger Moth and the old chap supervising them heats up a pan of oil until it smokes and then pours some into each bore . Apparently the heat helps penetration and expands the bore a fraction to aid freeing the pistons. - allegedly !! Any way it worked for them ! So get the chip pan out!
