    Ransomes Sand Skimming Tractor

Which seal do you mean Rhys? Managed to swap the three speed gearbox over from 311 to 310 today discovered that the two bearings on the pto output shaft were shot hopefully Neil will have some spares. Gear change cable from 310 is snapped, cable from 311 has a 1/4" tail instead of 3/16" as 310. May be able to trim it down and cut a new thread to fit. Both gearbox sump plugs are seized solid so had to dismantle with oil in boxes hence the mess!! In the photo you can see the double final drives of the skimmers which reduce the travel speed to 25ft/min 1st gear, 50ft/min second gear and 1mph third gear. Could take me about an hour to get from the car park at malvern to the stand!!! Next job is to swap the petrol engine from the ITW to the skimmer and fit original Drayton back on the ITW.

    Cletrac HG

Hi all Here are a few photos of my Cletrac HG31. I bought this crawler sometime around 1998 as best as I can remember. It is the narrowest version of the HG that was made and was intended for vineyard use, my HG came from a vineyard somewhere in France. It has a 4 cylinder Hercules petrol engine, starting is via the handle only as it has no electrics. I wasted most of the night looking for these photos on various computer backups only to realise they were from my pre digital days

    1978 SEARS / ROPER GT16

I know what it's like Alan, same here where really sad unfortunate events affect people and you have to change your direction. Got to lose some of my 'Fold' and downsize this year as well. 1/2 size sounds a good project .

it's keeping them clean Norm, would be a nightmare in mud - plus they aren't designed to run out of line either I thought of cogged v with perhaps some grooves or notches in the pulleys to stop it slipping just not enough room James I've turned the sides of the sprockets down to allow a greater angle. I think running worn and loose with idlers is the way to go.I ran it again at the weekend and it did better, but it is an extreme angle i'm asking it to do I've just finished 4 years of development!!!!!Brief update... Started with a vengeance on the hydraulics. Done the levers Shame every fitting I have is different I think I'll end up changing everything over to jic, as can't adapt the spool valve to metric

    Bristol 10

Hi all, here are a few photos of my Bristol 10 taken a couple of years ago when we moved it from one shed to another. No electric start, you have to hand crank the Austin engine. Controls are a bit different to all my other crawlers in that there is only one steering lever, it makes running it up loading ramps quite tricky as you can't stop and brake both tracks. Throttle is via twist grip at the end of the steering lever. Last photo shows the Bristol beside my Ransome crawlers for an idea of size. Rob

Also missing, what a surprise, was the belt guard and it's mounting bracket. I estimated the size and shape from photo's and made one up from alloy sheet and a cat food bowl. Not an exact copy but better than the nothing that was there before. The slotted plate, which fits just behind the guard was also made from alloy. Lots of other small parts were either bought or made including the steering wheel center. Most where not recorded or had photo's taken. The decals were made by my son. Difficult to know what exactly was originally fitted as various photo's showed different arrangements so a guess was made.

    Woodstore / Shed makeover

Looking good. I made and replaced a customer's shed door myself yesterday. The shed was an old air raid shelter from WWII. Actually quite pleased with how it all went together.
