That was a Hayter accessory. For the 21 and Osprey. The machine's clutch had to be set up spot on. You know that chequer plate you were looking for Rhys, the plate under the Ford engine would have cut in half and been ideal for what you needed.

Started work on sand skimming tractor again, Norman and I towed it down to the workshop on Wednesday and winched it on to the lift, just fits with a scrape on either side, lift is brilliant I can set it so that I can crawl inside to get to the back of the gearbox. I have fitted a replacement 3 speed gearbox and renovated the power take off, both of which had been removed and modified when Ford engine fitted. Been struggling today with gear change cable it was free running when off the machine but when in situ is too tight for gearchange lever to move have run 1/2 pint of plus gas through it and spent half an hour pulling it back and forth from the gearbox end but still not good enough hoping I can find a new one. The engine is ready to lift in but first I have to weld in a new support plate as again this was cut away to fit the Ford unit.

Big one is a 7930 and I'm pretty sure the small one is a 6420s, I do love the deeres Tom

looks great Ian Do you think you are getting enough oxygen in the mix? Have You tried a spark plug at the end of the tailpipe on the out side, a little way back so air could be mixed in before the spark, I suppose it's possible you could be trying to ignite fuel and carbon monoxide. You could always add nitrous oxide in the mix to increase the oxygen . With your skills I'm sure you could fabricate some sort of combustion chamber to fit around the end of the pipe to create a venturi effect using the exhaust gasses to pull clean air and fuel in from around the outside of the pipe with the plug firing it at the end. Maybe just a length of larger pipe around the end of the exhaust would do with the outer pipe sticking out further than the inner to get the 'draw' (similar to the old 'airline' powered vacuum cleaners) and the fuel injected between the two, Just a thought,

They used the same braces. Two bolts secure the foot rests to the braces, I believe the running boards might have used the same braces, if not they sure did a nice job make them look factory. However, I made a mistake in the beginning of the date of manufacturer and I forgot to correct information that related to build dates. If indeed your tractor is a 1973 Massey MF-7 and not a 1968 or 1969, then it would have had running boards, not foot rests. I am going to assume that the earlier pictures might have been supplied by the original owner? or were saved from the eBay ad?

Quite possibly. But somehow I don't think one would be enough.

Defiantly a 500 series, a Coventry built one, earlier model, most likely a 590, but the 575 was similar in wheelbase, and what looks like a a JD 2850 or 2650 with mfwd drove one of those for a couple years at my old job, mainly on a hedge trimmer
