    BEJAY winch

Got this one painted in record time. 5 years 2 months plus. Woo Hoo! Started on this project way back in Jan of 2015 and the engine is the one from the rebuild pics thread. The coil was recently changed back to an old school version since that's what was originally on the engine. Finally it's close enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel after pecking away at it for an hour or 2 at a time over the last couple weeks. This is too cool and rare of a piece to be left sitting in pieces out in a forgotten box. Not sure what I was think'n. Still need to paint the tank , touch up quite a few spots damaged on the yellow, figure out a decal and it appears there should be a chain guard on the front because of holes in the one on it, so maybe that too. Still not sure about winding on the cable or not. It's kind of heavy without it and there's no handle to carry it. All that cable is pretty heavy just on it's own. Seems it was designed to just be mounted and not so much portable. That Rustoleum paint seems like it never hardens so it's a PITA not scrape up during assembly. Started with this and now up to that.

Look familiar? Can't help thinking the tank needs rotating 90 degrees if it's permanently attached to a truck as shown above, also notice who sold it. David P.S. There are about 12 editions of Desert magazine from between 1961 & 1963 with O&R powered products, I need to get links added to the sticky thread as PDF's are available for all of them.

    Winter Project

My new tyres arrived yesterday, very pleased with them almost the same size and a third of the price. As the rims are old i put new tubes in them as they were only £6 each. Now both the boys are on the floor and rolling.

Maybe you can make your own outta silicone now? Me either but found the video interesting and that hydrogen peroxide can be used as a catalyst for silicone

I have what's left of the decal from removing it. The left side left of the B is now missing but I think there's enough there to try and work something out

Well I seem to have two sets of pictures for this winch (it got sold twice on ePay), spot the difference!! I wonder what happened to the small chain guard? And what happened to the decal? David P.S. it made slightly less the second time it sold.

    New Workshop Build

Shelving time... This fold up shelf fits nicely between the bench and lathe bench. Not quite enough space to get a second one on top! A bit of marking out and cutting later.. They both now fit and soon got filled up a bit..... I still need to work out quite where evrything is going! The last bit of inside cladding fixed in place.. Lathe tool draws naturally next to the lathe. And the lathe finally on it's bench. It might not be quite level yet however Paint cupboard now up on the wall... No more making coffee on it More shelves ready to be fixed to the wall once it's painted... Which happened today.. And to finish off this update have a comically shaped bench leg And that is this build thread up to date agin at last other than...

    New Workshop Build

A bit more before dinner.. With the Workshack finally water tight and no more "catch container" to catch all the drips gone I could finally get around to sorting the inside.. Starting with filling the gap between shack and shed. Panelled in using the boards that were fixed to the roof to try (he says laughing) stop the water coming in. Opps!! This board was cut using the measurement that you can just see on the darker battening... Unfortunatly that measurement was from the floof to the bottom of the battening! Oh well, easily covered with a "trim strip" Once the white paint had been splashed about the lathe bench could go in it's final home, which suddenly gave lots of space in the shack. The 2nd half of the bench going up after narrowing.. Top on. And some corner blocks added to strengthen the legs.

    New Workshop Build

"Should have fitted some battens over the felt Ian." Hi Norm, the problem was a mixture of two things.. 1. The roof was done in a rush as at the time it was the only dry day for a few weeks! 2. Me being a cheapskate!! Part of the felt was reused from one of the sheds, the rest of the felt was from donated rolls which had both sat around for quite a few years and were both quite thin... More on the roof later.. Hi all, long time no update.. I hope you all keeping well and more importantly keeping safe and indoors... At the end of my last update I had a window with no view... I now have a window with not much of a view, but it does left a lot of light and heat (should it be sunny) in the workshack. Lyla seems to like the workshack and came in to check the fitment. Some more panelling and painting done around the window. With half the bench up (forgot to take any pics of that) the frame for the other half of the becnh was propped in place to have a look... Need to be a bit narrower me thinks. A new desk top was cut, trial fitted the promptly walked over by a wet footed Lyla! That's better, firmly fixed in place and raised by a few inches so I could get my chair under.. And then quickly buried under the lathe and other non desky sort of stuff to make space elsewhere! Oh... And the workshack now has a new heavy duty felted roof thats firmly tacked and glued down with no chance of any nasty wind getting under it and ripping the felt back off..

Sorting out the front tyres from the back of the shed, I knew these would come in handy one day. No prizes for guessing where they came from, . The wheels that i made I decided to put nuts and bolts through them although I welded them it’s just a safety issue, also found some shiny capped nuts to add a bit of bling.

    BEJAY winch

Here's a cool little cable winch that made it's way into my collection. I usually like to keep them original but this one will probably end up getting a new paint job. It's kind of heavy and awkward to carry but can't find any where a handle would have been either.
