  2. I would say no, there should be two circuits if I recall One is DC with an inline rectifier (look for a lump in the wire) the other circuit is  AC. You cannot connect this straight to the battery - it will burn out the coil.

  3. the idea of AC for the lights is so when the engine stops the current draw stops. Therefore you can't flatten the battery, you can use the AC terminals or go straight to the battery - its your choice.

     

    We always go straight to the battery...
