Had a re-think and it sounds as if it's possible fuel starvation. Rebuilt carb so that should be ok. Any fuel filters? Kinked/block pipes?

I'd check ignition timing. What's the air filter like? Another possibility, as it's not been run for some time, is a sticking valve. Condenser? Coil?

Now there's a thought, Richard. Yes, the seals will be removed before assembly. But you've given me an idea. How does this sound? Only remove the inner seal. The bearing will still receive oil from in the box. Fit a grease nipple to driveshaft tube and grease the needle bearing? Could use one shot grease as in Land Rover swivel housings. Comments, please.

That's quite tidy. BTW. That hitch is the removable part of a Dixon Bate adjustable hitch.

Took the cases to be machined yesterday. I'll get them back in a week or two. Father and son outfit and as usual, very busy. This morning I made the sleeves for the drive shafts, to take the metric bearings I got last week. A piece of pipe nearly the right size was used. Just needed a skim inside and a little more on the o/d. First photo of sleeves and one bearing. The other bearing is at the machine shop. Before fitting the seals will be removed. Second photo of sleeves fitted with a spot of bearing retainer. When the bearings are finally fitted, they will have a spot of retainer also. They are a nice push fit, but better safe than sorry. The bearings, if anyone wants to know are as follows. Ball bearing :- 60082RS-NSK Needle roller bearing :- S1816 Seals :- Complete set. R07510012A1N R06208109A0N R11213712A0N

As Mark said, give the carb a clean out. With standing the float needle could be sticking. That could apply to the solenoid as well. Sometimes a light tap with a hammer or spanner helps. My C-120 liked a tap.
