HeadExam reacted to factory in Chicken Power bike motor kit on The Price is Right (1973)
My brother was watching some old episodes of the "The Price is Right" from 1973 on YouTube and found one featuring the Chicken Power Motor Kit as one of the prizes? in the guess the more expensive items from pairs in the 'give or keep game' part of the show.
It's featured about 12 minutes in.

HeadExam got a reaction from pmackellow in Chainsaw Shelves Nearly Full
I have one on the bench in restoration process and another one possibly coming soon. Other than the Montgomery Wards 2.3 Featherweight (Remington Yardmaster) they are all the lowest productions Homelite models made between 1965 and 1980

HeadExam got a reaction from Mowerman44 in Granddaughters Portrait of me and my Rotty "Gus"
I think she was 9 or 10 when she sketched this, about 5 or 6 years ago, Alex Marie will be 16 this coming October almost 16. I was cooking somethin, not sure what, but the stove got short or she thought i was very tall. Gus died a year ago February 22, he was with me through thick and thin for over 14 years. I love the little wag marks she made, even with a stub he would wag tail and butt. This was the smartest, kindest, gentlest, and loyal companion a man could ever have

HeadExam reacted to Anglo Traction in Vintage Fuel Tap saved
Don't usually like to revisit old Topics, but this Tap came back to haunt me.
I started dripping fuel out of the Tap and apparently emptied the fuel out on the floor probably over last winter.
Having concerns that my workmanship, or the materials I had used were at fault, I took it back to find the cause.
Glad to say the bits I did were not faulty, but found the fuel was leaking out of the lever end.
So I stripped it down on the understanding that if I can't fix it, they will have to replace the whole unit (if they can find one).
Talk about over engineered!. Seven separate parts just for the tap lever control !, including a plastic type seal which had dissolved/rotted which was causing the leak-
So as usual, I hit the challenge and went for making a replacement seal from fuel resistant 1.5mm thick nitrile/nylon reinforced rubber.
I had to make 2 special punches that could cleanly punch through the tough layers and in the correct positions-
Glad to say that when the cleaned parts were assembled and the tap fitted , there were no further leaks. Hope I've seen the back of this one now.

HeadExam reacted to factory in Ohlsson & Rice: chainsaw- is there something unique about this chainsaw?
Another possibility, the 1964 engine parts list does mention a tan starter (it doesn't state what it was used on), but what about the two decals and the different chrome handle? Also did you have a tan painted gearbox half?
Here are some edited pictures from the ePay auction for future reference (they will disappear from ePay when the auction link eventually dies).

HeadExam reacted to Stormin in Hutton in the Forest Classic Car Show.
Had a run over to a little classic car show held near Penrith, Cumbria. This is held every year and usually has a good turn out. Unfortunately the weather this morning was very wet and windy. So I expect more than a few cars didn't leave their cosy garages.
Anyway a few photos of some exhibits there.

HeadExam reacted to Stormin in Tote.
Having been given some trees nearby that have been ripped out with a digger, I decided to make a tote for chainsaw etc. This will fit on the front of the Sears GT16 which I use for towing my Saxon trailer. Better than having to carry things back balanced on a load of wood
First I made this out of scrap wood.
The hitch pin has to be removed to fit it and when replaced stops the frame from sliding out.
Next a made a box out of wood salvaged from a disused dog kennel.
The box has yet to be finished, but has been tested for strength. Takes my 12-1/2 stone easily.

HeadExam reacted to meadowfield in Floating bogie tipper trailer
Been a while since I posted a project, this has been in my head for years and I did the axles early last year...
Left over axles make good bogies.
Been stalled for a few months until a few weeks ago a tracked barrow skip turned up on that site.
So so that set the juices flowing
