pmackellow reacted to Chris in Machines of mass cultivation
Been working my MG40 & Howard Gem, which is the lastest purchase to the fleet over the past couple of weeks.
Thanks to Iain in Norfolk, the gem now has a recoil starter on the front. It runs very well

pmackellow reacted to the showman in Been Wheelhorse Picking Again
Well its all back in the tractor, had it running and been through the gears and all seems to be doing what it should. Left it running for a bit in gear to circulate the oil

pmackellow reacted to Darmic1 in ORLine Power Tools
I finally managed to get some Garage time to reassemble the 2 models acquired from 'Wallfish' and the USofA. The first is an ORLine Mustang Chainsaw, the other is an ORLine Hedge trimmer. Both will be restored in the fullness of time, but for now they are reassembled and will be tested over the next couple of days. Here are a couple of picture of them........

pmackellow reacted to Tom in Another wheel horse implement...
This one isn't as cool as the sickle bar I got a few weeks back but it's still wheel horse and it was a bargain so I'm happy
It needs a fair bit of love and attention but it's all there and it's solid. I will most likely spray it with oil and stick it in the shed until I have time to get it back to working order. It also needs a bag, whether you can still obtain these I don't know...

pmackellow reacted to vegikev in new addition and bonus
the missus got back from town this morning and told me about a bloke selling seeders and stuff so i promptly went down for a look, walked away with a douglas inter-plant hoe and a rather crude old ratchet set thrown in for good measure

pmackellow reacted to the showman in Been Wheelhorse Picking Again
One 3 speed tranny back together with new needle bearings and oil seals , and the best bit is that it selects all the gears.
I'll get the hubs and pulleys back on and back in the tractor tomorrow

pmackellow reacted to Ian in Project "Why Not"
It's good to know I'm not the only one who does these daft things
I need to do a few tweaks but the steering is now sorted... It even steers the right direction

pmackellow reacted to Ian in Project "Why Not"
Thanks Mark, yeah it is rather awesome gear lever.. The gear shift will be kinda like WRC cars... 1 forward, 4 back.. Bike gears but hand shifted
Well, it's been an er.. interesting kinda day!!
Things started well with a frame being made to add some strength to the fender pan.. This frame will be welded to the pan and some extra cross members put in for the seat to bolt to, once I get a seat that's not got and splits in it!
And then the rose joints I ordered for making steering arms turned up in the post.
So I set to, cutting up some thick metal..
A quick mock-up later to check that the steering would work.. And this is where a slight mistake was spotted... Can you spot it?
Turn the steering wheel to the right....
And the wheel hubs turn to the left!!! I think "Oops" is the correct word
As I said... An interesting day

pmackellow reacted to usedtoolman in Orline Cut Off Saw
Attached are pictures of the Orline Cut Off Saw that I restored last year. Another one of the seemingly endless variety of tools that used this little engine.
I found that School Bus yellow is a very good match for the Orline yellow.

pmackellow reacted to usedtoolman in Comet Chainsaw
Attached are pictures of my restored Comet chainsaw. When I got this, the handle was missing. Wallfish was kind enough to loan me a handle which I used as a template to bend a new one. Also the prong that sticks down below the blade was broken off and missing. I was able to graft on a piece of aluminum and blend it to shape.
