Wheelhorse Electro with a stack pipe.
Triumph66 and one other reacted to Robins for a post in a topic
Hi all, Last week I had a job come in where i needed to fabricate these for an elderly customer so they could come out of hospital after a fall. The step up to the front door was to big to manage, so an intermediate step and custom rails have helped. But whilst making them i had a bit of time spare between metal cooling and paint drying ect, so started my Wheel horse stack pipe Started with this, no idea what its from but fits the job and kindly donated by friend Simon. This is not the tidiest job, the welds are not perfect, and it's made from scrap parts as my budget for tractors is £zero, the offcuts are from my Mustang exhaust headers i made some time ago, so been planing this a while then Objective is make a cool looking stack pipe, that makes the engine Quiet! After cutting it open, i welded a chamber inside for the gasses to enter (side entry in to the stack), Then drilled through both outer and inner chamber cases and welded the inlet pipe on to just the outer case. Then slid the inner perforated section out, and wrapped in exhaust wadding nice and tightly for sound deadening purposes, and slid it all back together and welded up the joints. As i'm hoping to fit the Magnum 16 engine one day, i made a flange to bolt it to the engine rather than the threaded type fitments. Sorry its fuzzy! But you get the idea. Now why is there a pipe coming from the top and bottom you ask? Well my plan was either it would make it quieter or it would not, but worth experimenting with. The main reason though is a support for the stack as it bolts to the chassis without looking like a huge bracket, then it wont crack the head if it's walloped. By the way it didnt help with noise so i plugged the end of the lower pipe And here it is finished and loosely fitted to my Electro 12 for basic testing. What do we all think? On basic testing I'm very hopeful for a quieter tractor, the engine was louder than the exhaust note, and the engine does rattle rather a lot! Please add on pictures of your stack pipes if you want to, be great to see them. cheers, Daniel -

here's the rest...not my hood - stole it from Ewan, also still 4x2 - I needed the tin work in place before I finished the idler and 4WD select/difflock and the obligatory video -
1 pointNot wishing to spoil Ian's welding trolley thread, here is my offering attachment=6329:image.jpg] It was one of those things you have a tray on, whilst sitting in your arm chair. As you can see, it has been extensively modified, with much time and effort spent. Came from a house a friend of mine bought, that had belonged to an elderly lady. Out of quite a bit of invalidity equipment left. behind, I thought it would come in for some use when offered me. I did turn down the commode though. Can some kind person put it the right way up. I've tried without success.[done] mark

1 pointI think the gestation period for a Bolens is three months, so the next one must be due soon :-) Iain

1 pointAndrew, Your plough is interesting as the ends have a 45 degree edge. As it is painted black it will be a later plough. Mine is painted yellow and does not have the 45. You might want to consider painting it yellow to fit with the age of the 800 and 1254. Alternatively, just wait until you buy the next Bolens and it might be a later model. Iain

Holme Front 1940's weekend in Cambridgeshire
ranger reacted to pmackellow for a post in a topic
Steve Denness and me took some machines up to a small village near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire today to support a 1940's weekend known as the Holme Front (the village is called Holme, hence the play on words) We took a couple of Colwoods, a Ladybird mower, and a Whitwood seeder, during the day I bought a childs wheelbarrow to go with our two Webb childs mowers. Although the main theme was a 1940's event there were some vehicles and machines that were newer present. It was a great day, here's some photos... -

1 pointReplacement plough discs can be made from old circular saw blades- grind or cut to required diameter and are very hard wearing.

Ahh, fell for my cunning ploy! I need to make a modified one for widestrides winch fitment so may as as well make two. -
1 pointAgreed, pushing snow is one of the most fun things to do on a tractor. I think I may have already posted this picture already somewhere, but it is one of my favourites I broke a weld on mine a while back pushing soil. I must fix that before the winter. If we get a bit of snow it would be good if everyone posted some snow pushing pictures or videos. Iain
