It's good to know I'm not the only one who does these daft things I need to do a few tweaks but the steering is now sorted... It even steers the right direction -
1 pointChris, it was great to see you on Friday and drool over the HT loader/back hoe. The tractor certainly needs some love but the attachments are great. It's a pity I am not closer as I would enjoy helping you get them sorted. Iain

1 pointChris I trust you have checked your garage to see if it's still there......... You know what these blokes are like from Norfolk!

1 pointWell I had Iain down from Norfolk on Friday who cast his expert eye over the poor thing The front loader is a Johnson unit The engine is in more of a mess than I thought it was, as I had never opened the bonnet I never got the chance to study it Yes its still on the trailer as never seem to have the chance to lift it off Iain still wants it though

1 pointGreat job, looks very well made. I am sure it would be much stronger and more versatile if it looked like this Iain

Given I grew up in a landy, in fact I was pretty well born in one, this makes me smile! For those in the US, a series land rover is very similar to a jeep - just loads better It had a 4 speed box with a very long gear stick, they ran forever (like WH) and inevitably everything got very sloppy.... -

quick update, I haven't made a lot of progress, pretty much none actually, but i ordered something that will hopefully prove to be quite useful with ordering parts and putting it back together i think it is quite a find, an enlish repair manual for a east german engine that's all for now -
1 pointDaniel, Don't you start on my adding to my collecting habit; I am in enough trouble as it is! In any case, my next one is a Cub Cadet (thanks Chris) or a Gutbrod or Bolens 600 or a very early Å´heel Horse but only when I have got the other two Safely home. I think you will be smitten by the Bolens bug once you have worked your magic on the 1254.... Cheers

Project "Why Not"

good news! the only issue with putting the steering knuckles in front of the axle is it's hard to get the akerman angle right unless you have big wheels... but I think Akerman angle will be irrelevant when you are sideways in a cloud of blue smoke :D -

Thanks Mark, yeah it is rather awesome gear lever.. The gear shift will be kinda like WRC cars... 1 forward, 4 back.. Bike gears but hand shifted Well, it's been an er.. interesting kinda day!! Things started well with a frame being made to add some strength to the fender pan.. This frame will be welded to the pan and some extra cross members put in for the seat to bolt to, once I get a seat that's not got and splits in it! And then the rose joints I ordered for making steering arms turned up in the post. So I set to, cutting up some thick metal.. A quick mock-up later to check that the steering would work.. And this is where a slight mistake was spotted... Can you spot it? Turn the steering wheel to the right.... And the wheel hubs turn to the left!!! I think "Oops" is the correct word As I said... An interesting day -

getting close to the end of this project now just a few issues to sort out, its funny how when you start a project like this you have a picture in your head of what it will look like, but as you progress your mind starts to wonder, anyway this is what it looks like, what do you think
