    Yellow Mower Challenge!

Er !, You (and many on here) already have lots of it Nigel and thanks, just look at the things you turn out of your workshop....Landy being the latest !. I can't do biggish projects like many of you Guys, so have to put up with the small finicky ones . Been patiently waiting for Engine bits and the good news is my wait is nearly over, they're now on the way . In the meantime and instead of finishing the Grass Catcher Supports/Cords, I thought as the weather is warm n sunny, I'd start on the construction of an item that will greatly ease the manipulation of this wide, restrictive machine. Starting with an old 1920s Oak Sideboard top I had in store- Measured up, Chopped it up, bolted, glued and screwed some strengthening planks each end, then fitted some cheap 3" Casters (2 fixed and 2 swivel). We now have the makings of a 'Transporter Trolley' that is not quite 18" (45cms) deep and 36" (96cms) wide, so it can access areas through very narrow gaps now - Just finished bonding a layer of thick rubber garage floor covering on it and only need to add a few bits to secure the mower in place while it's on and a drag handle, probably detachable. Getting the mower on is no problem, but may have to bolt a hinged Ramp on one side to get it off easier. Means I can drag it around to the back onto the lawn to finish the work in daylight and then........... test it out !.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

Another load went today. We can see a LOT more of the barn floor now. Philip and brother in law Terry moved the two lathes out of the barn. The Raglan has now gone to a new home with a fly press press for company. I missed the Raglan being moved due to being busy elsewhere on site. The other lathe, make unknown, although it looks a bit like a Myford, is now in a more accessible spot. Rusty, but like the Raglan, various area's have cleaned up better than expected. Philip managed to start the International B450 hoping to reverse it out of the barn but found the clutch was stuck. Hardly surprising after about 40 years of rest. Clouds of smoke and fumes which had us all making a rapid exit until it cleared A few photo's of the days excitement.

his description of this device is different to what he told me when he was inventing it, he told me it was called a butt plug, so i asked what is a butt plug for ? his reply was the driver sticks it up his botty. and the holder was to put it in when its not in use

The idea being when it's plugged in to the stop/run circuit will be in run mode.. So if the plug is attached to the driver and the driver get thrown off for some reason, the plug get pulled and the engine stops Ian, I think you meant to say that if the driver SELF EJECTS in SHEAR TERROR via his inbuilt REAR END propulsion system, then the plug gets pulled stopping the engine.

Some of you know I'm in the process of moving house, it's a long tedious affair both with solicitors and estate agents wasting my time and money! It's also taking a lot of running around moving the workshops and horses.... The first 6 loads kinda got us to this stage A few of the horses are in their new home. 8 x 1.5t trailer loads - and a puncture got us to this Rather than tip all the stone we have excavated over 13 years, we are moving it 15 miles up the road and it is hard work. Still a lot more to move this week, hopefully the other horses will be in the new stable by Friday.

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

The International initially needs a pair of rear tubes & tyres along with possibly & rear axle seal. There appeared to be a few small water leaks having put water in but having sat for a long while it isn't to bad. The clutch might free up ok but time will tell. After i found only one injector pipe squirting i removed the plate from the side of the injector pump. This revealed 3 stuck plungers with one of them being stubborn to shift. After an hour all were free, injectors bled & after a bit of heat away it went. There was a panic initially as the throttle lever works the opposite way to my Major so as it started & revved i had to hold it on the stop till i worked out why. Paint wise i think it's had a fresh coat prior to John acquiring it. All good fun, thanks Alan for yours' & Johns help & photos. Philip

    The Cursed Ivy

That's awful. Think that I first heard of poison Ivy in the song about a child at camp the went Hello Mother , Hello Father! However I didn't know that we had anything similar in the UK However we do have Giant Hogweed about which there's a lot in the press at present there was quite a plantation of it near here and apparently it affects some people badly and leaves them with photosensitive skin for several years after the initial contact.

My Friend Shows Off His Bolens HT23

That's a new style Brinly 3 point blade. He just ordered two 26x11-12 Duro Frontiers for the rear an two 5.00-10 Kenda tires and wheels for the front. Those two Duros were 189.99 delivered to his door.

Thanks mate, all I need to do now is find a better way of mounting it.. They are.. Just a very very pale shade An update from inside the workshop.... The bench WN was on ended up looking like this yesterday!! After the struggle of lifting her off the bench last time we decided the easiest thing to do this time was to slide drag the bench to the doorway and roll her down some ramps,,, To be fair on the bench it has put up with a lot of punishment for the past er... many years including the weight of the 6x6 being built on it.. The bench will be rebuilt a lot stronger and on castor wheels I'm very happy to report that all the changes that have happened on WN have been worth it.. Thanks to the new higher fuel outlet on the tank she starts up straight away with no hassles or queasy-start.. A little choke, no throttle push the starter button and she roars into life.. Today I realized that I was no longer thinking about the brakes when using then, I guess the relocated front master cylinder is doing it's job now And now the big one.. Steering.. Gone is the twitchyness that was there under hard throttle while turning.. There is even a fair amount of self centering going on.. Oh, and the steering is so much lighter than what it was The only downside was the amount of wheel turning needed to steer.. It was about 1/2 a turn lock to lock, the A35 steering box made that 2.2 turns lock to lock!! This was sorted today by drilling and extra hole in the drop link a bit closer to the wheel and giving the connecting rod a bend so it didn't hit the exhaust or anywhere else.. The lock is now 1.5 turns lock to lock which feels right.. In fact it now has so much lock that the front brake calipers hit the front axle on full lock, so I need to make a couple of simple stoppers to stop that happening.. The fender pan is as done as it's going to get before the shows, it still needs loads more work but that can wait until I get her ready for final paint. I have also installed a plug under the dash.. Nope, it's not for plugging in headphones It is in fact wired into the bikes stop/run circuit. The plan is to grind out some of the plastic bit that separates the positive and negative and weld both bits together. The idea being when it's plugged in to the stop/run circuit will be in run mode.. So if the plug is attached to the driver and the driver get thrown off for some reason, the plug get pulled and the engine stops I'm now so tired I can hardly type without having to correct a smelling mistake on every other turd, so it's just as well I'm on the last three photo's.. Here's WN out in the wild yesterday.
