Hi all a bit of a major update on the project , I've always admired Mark ( meadowfield) c 4x4 and how he did the drive etc any way a couple of weeks ago I managed to get an axle the same as marks what he used I was gonna use it for another project but I thought why not make the 4x6 into a 6x6 so I sat and thought about it after all the work I put into making the steering etc work any way I bit the bull it and using marks thread as a guide I decided to offer up the axle here is what I've done so far!!

It is now mobile.

Seen this that a local guy made, thought it was pretty cool.

I picked a wheelhorse 417-A up today from brighton general auctions. it comes with deck and also came with a sweeper. It has been stood in a garage for the last 20 years!! Only done 188hrs. quite a tidy machine, haven't had time yet to overhaul and try to start it

As tractor world is nearly apon us, I thought I'd post up a picture of my last gem that I rebuilt,at the show in 2011. Hopefully this new one should finish up about the same once completed.

Landmaster wheel bolts and nuts cleaned up and primered, another coat of white on the outer faces of the wheels, and the inner tubes that arrived yesterday...

Today I finished restoring my Osprey 7 BHP. It looks very nice and starts first or second pull. I know I can put it on the obvious ebay, however I want it to got to good home. Can anyone please suggest a good site. I am in Essex. This has got to go as I cannot afford a meadow and have a solid Hayter 21 in my garden centre ready for a restoration. I cannot post pictures on here as I am too old and daft. I do know how to email pictures. Have a nice weekend. Colin

Somebody was heading into the garage with head held high I shouted to him to duck so what did he do ? Stamped on the brakes and swerved to the left heading for the garage wall and all between him and it ! Being a man of iron he let go the brakes and eventually shut the throttle coming to an ignominious stop amongst power packs , compressors and Petrol engines people want to pay me money for. No damage done and no skin lost so all's well !

Surprised your changing all the front end after all the work you did with the power steering but will be nice when its done

Started building up the mag today, have soldered in a replacement coil, also have given the exhaust a coat of high temp black paint. The valve cover also received a coat of aluminium finish. As an aside the last photo shows what ive been working on over the last couple of days. The forklift should give an idea of scale. Once in its case it will tip the scales at just under 4 tonne. The 4 main bolts cost £1400 each!

We've both had, shall I say, moments with it. I can honestly say it's the most unusual and weirdest thing I've ever driven.

Up and running today, fired first pull but as with 137 would not run until I turned it over with my petrol drill starter and then it ran well, not able to get a good slow tick over and still wont re start on the handle. I am going to fit another condenser in the morning as when I tested the spark with a tell tale it was firing well on no compression but no spark on compression. The condenser fitted was a NOS one but I now have some brand new ones so hope that makes the difference. This engine is in superb condition and has more compression than any of my others. Once I had it running I put it into gear only to find that the gear lever is marked up back to front reverse is forwards which caused me to just about demolish a trestle I had at the back of the machine fortunately I managed to stop it before too much damage was done. I guess that when the Ford engine and gearbox were fitted the engine turned over the opposite way to the Ransomes. I have now blanked out the markings and made up some new markers. I am going to fit an electrical stop switch at the driving point as I think that if anything goes wrong when you are sat up there on Norman's beautifully fitted seat you would be in trouble even though it only does 1 mile an hour flat out in third it would not stop even if it hit a wall it would climb up it or demolish it. One part I am missing which would be good to have before Malvern is an oil filler cap, in the engine close up you can see the four slot location, I have scoured the usual sources but not been able to find one, if anyone has a spare that may be suitable please give me a call.

If you are quick Norm, you can whisk the Kubota away while Chris is still dreaming.
