    Project "Why Not"

It's been painted Norm, just not with a colour Oh no it's not Thanks James, your find the blast cabinet very handy My cabinet does the same, I just move the suction pipe.. The black paint for the rear axle and a few other parts turned up I thought I'd get it painted as it was a nice warm day for a change.. The ally diff case was clear coated at the same time as the black.. Well, it will save me having to keep polishing it "Clear Lacquer... For when that bald patch just isn't shiny enough" The front brakes and steering were fully pulled apart for painting.. Some interesting masking opportunity's were presented by the front hubs/brake disks! Painted and masking tape removed...Any paint on the disks that shouldn't be there will soon get worn off by the brake pads. Why Not's engine was lifted up onto the bench Thursday, thanks for your help Karl and Matt. Coils, carbs, wiring and radiator were removed so I could make a start on cleaning the engine up for painting.. Oh, and to sort out a couple of small oil leaks!

    Wheel Horse D-160 Clutch Replacement

The Kohler powered D series Wheel Horse all came with a manual clutch, but the Onan's used an electric clutch, don't know why. Since this donor tractor was a Onan powered machine I decided to remove the manual clutch from the Kohler D series engine donor tractor and replace it with an electric clutch from a Allis 416H parts tractor. I can now employ the switch in the dash to engage the electric clutch on the Kohler K341 to turn the rear PTO. The bolt holes, shaft, and pulley's lined up perfectly. I feel like a multi appendaged farm animal.

I picked this CASE trailer up in Union, New Jersey (close to 2000 miles from me) for 100.00, it cost almost that to ship it to I.T., no matter. It has a 1" axle, stake sides, these are not very common, so I had to add it to the stable. Also went onto the Osage Indian reservation and pulled this 56" Wheel Horse dozer blade out of the weeds, 150.00 for the blade and I still have my hair.

    Four Wheel Trailer Refurbish

Back in June last year I pulled this trailer out of a barn at Johns. Not sure how long it had been in there but it was buried under a pile of stuff and had 4 Knackerd tyres. I got it home and fitted 4 new tyres and exhibited at a few shows through the summer behind the Wheelhorse.

A few photos if the tear down. Its surprising how quickly these Wheelhorses come apart. Someone must have had a problem with the belt slipping at one point and made up a couple of crude brackets. The rear most one was actually wearing away the back of the belt. That Kohler engine is one heavy son of a bitch. They are certainly made to last. The Wheelhorse has been painted at some point in its life and after the engine was removed i found a patch of the original paint, which was quite pink to my surprise. Most of the information i have found about paint colours say to use International Harvester 2150. The closest i can find, going by what was under the engine is Ral 3001 signal red. Now the work hard really begins, cleaning, sanding and painting.

    Gutbrod Potato Planter

Has anyone got any pictures or information on how to attach the potato or veg planters to a Gutbrod? I have just bought a potato planter but I am not sure how to connect it up. The planter isnt home yet but should be in about a weeks time. I know you use the standard tool frame like this (without the grubber) And there are brackets which I dont have The center bracket looks like it will couple the planter to the tool frame but I am not sure what the other two are. I was thinking lift arm extensions but I think the planter will be heavy hanging that far behind the tractor. Any thoughts?

    4 x 6 trailer

I bought an old trailer at auction a few months back and I am getting around to fixing it up a bit. Two coats of Industrial enamel with hardener and reducer made the metal look fairly good, after three hours sanding and prepping. I used some left over oil base rusty metal primer, oil stain, and varnish to make a paint stew for the old wood, Then I made some tali light brackets from some left over metal bits. Later this week I will install the wiring, attach the lights, and finally install the jack mount and tongue jack. Before and after pictures below.

Thats a good looking wagon Chris, would there be any chance of a few dimentions, length, width, height, draw bar length, etc. I Would like to have a go at building a replica for myself. Thanks, Noel.

    Wheel Horse D-160 Clutch Replacement

Thanks Andrew, I carried that penchant for tidiness and organization into my job as a self employed new home painter as well. It is absolutely imperative to keep a clean job site to reduce the possibility of injury and be more productive as well. it also serves to produce a better finish product and sets a good example for others. BTW, spent alot of time training British and Australian infantry in American battlefield tactics (not sure why they wanted to learn this), the first step was always organization and preparation.

It feels like i have been cleaning and sanding parts forever, but eventually got to the point where i could start to blow on some paint. Made a bit of a spray booth out of the frame of the gazebo and a couple of sheets. Didn't want the workshop covered in over spray. The Wheel horse now has something that it never had from the factory, primer!

    Project "Why Not"

I've got a similar cabinet and have added an additional internal strip light and dust extraction connected to a Henry vacuum cleaner. Wondered why it was fogging up the other day and found that a bit of bubble wrap had got sucked onto the back vent! The draw back with these table mounted ones seems to be that the blasting medium does not flow back to the suction pipe and I have to keep tipping the cabinet to get it where its needed. Perhaps a central position for the pick up is what's needed ?
