    C-120 refurb.

Started on another mod. Thanks to Doug, (ranger). I now have an electronic actuator and all the gubbins. The little bush I made, to take out some of the play in the slightly worn and oval eye. I also got the brackets welded on to mount it as below. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo. I've made a couple of plates to help stiffen things up as well. Everything has now had two coats of primer.

    The Cushtyman

yeah it was a bit of a struggle that day.. Good job Rex is young enough to do the bit's we couldn't! Nice idea Paul, but as you will see the Cushman frame is er.... Way past it's best for a re-power. yeah it sure is big, big enough to need a forklift to er.. Lift it.. A few more photo's for ya all, the back axle is quite a hefty bit of kit! The lever on the diff is for hi/low ratio.. Posh eh Here's what's left of the Cushman, it's not what you would call straight or square! And the reason a V8 won't be going in Paul.. Repairs such as the frame snapping and getting welded back together not straight or square!

    Late model Bolens 1254

I picked up a Bolens 1254 for a fellow Bolens enthusiast this morning up in North Devon. Phil contacted me via GTT and I was happy to help out a fellow enthusiast. I got it stored at my lock up until he can collect it in a month or so. It's a 1254-05 model and is is good overall condition. There's no engine but he got a spare one knocking around apparently.

Took my cultivator to the horse paddocks to break down some rutted ground from last winter, working fine until the link (m8 threaded bar) snapped. took her to pieces and decided to try something different. A 24v linear actuator, -recycled- coupled to the hitch and drawbar proved it could lift the cultivator at 12v. (also me) I removed the rockshaft, homemade, and the unit fitted under the seat with room to spare. A couple of lugs welded to the crosspiece, an extension to the 'ram' and it worked! I may add some braces from the crosspiece to the axle, but the whole lot is already stiffened by the fender raising frame added to gain clearance for the tyres. Tried it today with the discs, the ground was a bit hard, then I realised I need to change the temporary extension for one with a slot to allow the implements to 'float'. I coudn't find a dpdt switch so I knocked up a unit using a 're-cycled' joystick and three 5pin relays as a polarity reverser, the joystick has a mag-mount so It can be fitted wherever it works best, there is a button on top of the stick which has to be pressed before the other controls will operate. I may fit another actuator to the front to pic up my front weight, this is made from a number of 'flitch' (I think they are called), plates, again re-cycled, each one weighs 1.8kg. the toolbox fits to the hood grill using a couple of 'anti luce' catches, on and off in seconds, plus adds a bit more front end weight. I may try changing the Linak motor for a hydraulic cylinder as the next stage in the experiment, cylinders are no problem, and I also have an ex- mini-bus wheelchair tail-lift electro-hydraulic unit that should fit under the hood. Two one horsepower units.

    Late model Bolens 1254

A nice find Andrew, it's screaming out for a slightly larger engine,, something "in keeping" of course.. Oh, please don't paint it, it has just the right amount of age showing

Koen The engine is almost identical to 137 MG 2, you may find that the crankshaft output is longer . Keep some of your green oak to make some new rollers for the front of your mower,

    couple of westwoods!

So the new car trailer finally arrived around 6pm today (been waiting for it since sunday) and we set off at 7 on a 180 mile or so round trip to pick up these 2 westwoods and trailer. Bit nerve racking as we didn't even check the trailer over... but towed like a dream! The westwoods couldn't have fitted any better wedged right up to the sides! Only bought the stash for the trailer to go behind the horwool so the westwoods will be up for grabs! Probably some mower racing friends will jump on them I expect... Good evening all round!
