Workshop re-organisation to date. 8 x 4 Platform built with shelves on top. High enough to get a Wheel Horse front end under or implements. Fair bit of space to work now. From service door. From front doors. Next job is this corner.

    are you an anzani owner

I live in Ireland and its surprising how many Anzani Iron horses are hidden away in sheds . From bringing my own iron horse to vintage shows I have met about 9 other owners , most are parked up in sheds , but there are two in Dublin that go to the ploughing matches. I believe the late George Holt had a long list of Uk owners. At one show I met an elderly gentleman ,less that two miles from me and got invited to see his sheds ...which to my delight had a fine easimow..almost like new . He said it was much too heavy and tended to sink into the lawn when he tried it out...he had a jap 5 engine that I managed to buy off him , that now powers my own iron horse.

This old mower, Briggs 4-1/2 hp, does a great job. Self-propelled, high rpm's you'll run to keep up.

    THE SHOWMAN'S NEW HOBBY.

After his recent exploration of the crushed caravan, looking for long lost treasure's, Chris was determined to carry on with his new hobby of caravan diving. This is a variation of the well known skip diving, but includes a roof in case of bad weather. As it happened it was raining anyway, so we all got a bit damp. We discovered that the roof only worked if we were under it. After digging out two heavy bench's from the back of John's barn with help from friend Steve, plus more goody finding, Chris pleaded to be allowed to hack his way through years of bramble's and growth surrounding, or should I say burying, a pair of small touring caravans which had been used for storage. With Chris leading the way, there was no stopping him, we hacked, clipped and chopped through to the door of the first van. Carefully opening the door which was unlocked, Chris was greeted by the sight of - - - JUNK. There was barely room for Chris to stick his head inside the doorway, the junk almost falling out at his feet. Disappointed at not seeing anything of interest, a more thorough exploration may follow later, Chris turned his attention to the second caravan which was about 6 to 8 feet away. As the doors faced each other he opted for the direct route by tunneling through the brambles etc which he said would be the quickest way. A short while later Chris popped up beside a locked door, which was persuaded to open with the help of a crowbar. There was room to step inside this caravan which contained various car parts and other goodie's. It wasn't long before Chris emerged with a big grin on his face, where else, holding a pair of mismatched tri rib garden tractor tires which matched a pair of mismatched tri rib tires found in John's shed a few weeks ago. John has a strange storage system. The junk in the first caravan probably belonged to John's brother in law, who lived on the premises before him. A few other assorted tires plus a Honda engined generator were also extracted. More digging required in this second caravan. As it was getting late it was decided to pack up for the day and dry off before we headed home.

    THE CONFUSION IS OVER.

I feel the need to wade in on this one I see Chris appears to have a problem with his left hand on both pictures. It is either lovely attached to the Bolens or maybe he is trying to hide something. I have the twin to John's tractor and I think they may have been separated at birth and are longing to be reunited. They have both been painted to look like Wheelhorses and both have been robbed of some of the manly Bolens features such as the PTO. Here is a couple of pictures of it's twin which clearly shows it a Bolens Looking at the front in detail it clearly shows the Bolens features. Er. hang on a minute

    BOLENS RIDEAMATIC manuel

Nigel, I believe Andrew's Ride-a-matic is a 1961, either a 233-01 or a 234-01. This is the owners and parts manual. If that is not the case I have the manuals for most RAM's. Hope this helps Iain 233-01 & 234-01 Ride-A-Matic (1961).pdf

    Project "Why Not"

Life is a funny old thing at times... I swapped WN's original Wh trans out with it's 5 bolt wheel fixings for a Reliant axle which is a 4 wheel bolt fitting.. Then spend loads of time converting 5 bolt wheels to 4 bolt fitting... And now I'm about to start converting the Reliant 4 bolt to fit 5 bolt wheels back on!! It's not as mad as it might sound you know.. Why??? Well it's a safety thing you see... Now WN has proved herself at going sideways (did anyone get any photo's of my BTF arena antics?), the time has come to starting thinking about something a bit faster and in a straight line.. After some careful thought the chances of going sideways at high speed is far more likely on a grass airstrip than tarmac, so with that in mind something more sticky on tarmac was found.. next door as it happens The tyres have a V speed raiting which means they are good up to 149mph!! I just need to find some better tyres for the front wheels now.. All of the above means I have some work to do to make the wheels fit, so this big old slab of steel was dug out to make a couple of wheel bolt convertors.. I see a lot of lathe work coming up in the very near future The shape eye'd of you will of noticed a something lurking in the background of the above photo.. Yep I have bought another CX/GL/silverwing engine for doing a bit of development on.. I won't give my plans away yet (those who know please keep quite if you would be so kind ) as I won't be doing anything with the engine for a long time yet, but I will say it should produce a bit more power than a standard CX/GL engine
