5 pointsThanks Guys.. Only a small update guys.. Happy that my strange braking system will work, today I started to refine it a bit. New connecting lever on the left, prototype on the right.. As you can see I decided it needed a bit of shape to it Here it is fitted.. The handbrake lever looked like it had been pulled from an old Marina or something, so I gave it a "Wheel Horse" make over. The bottom half will be covered by the side panel.. I think it looks more the part

4 pointsWhile searching ads for a hand held earth auger to do some fence posts, I stumbled across an ad for this machine. DIG R MOBILE earth auger machine. Found it very interesting, went to look at it and impulse bought it. I don't really have a need for this much hole digging machine but I'm a sucker for old cool machines. Hopefully I can find some side work for it to help pay the bill. Everything works but it needs some TLC to get everything tightened up so it drills straight. Made in the 60s by a company called General. Came with it's own factory custom trailer. Just thought I'd share some pics.

Bolens 1556 Owner/Maintenance Manual
Triumph66 and one other reacted to HeadExam for a post in a topic
I got it in the post today, good to see I didn't get scammed, it's an original in fantastic shape. The manual is dated 9/71 as most tractors came to the dealer in the late summer before the model year of the tractor, that way they would seem fresher by the summer of the following year. It wasn't unusual for tractors to be sold as new 2-4 years after they were made. Here are some pictures from inside -

Bolens 1556 Owner/Maintenance Manual

I asked Old Buzzard to help make a .pdf file of the manual and I'll share it for free; he has the software to do it. The manual cost me quite a bit of money, but I have always believed that these old manuals should be shared so we don't lose them. I uploaded over 80 manuals on GTTalk forum alone and have shared over 20 manuals that I have bought that weren't on .pdf or available anywhere else that I purchased myself. I could use the money, but this isn't how I want to make it. I am very passionate about the tractor collecting hobby and life as well, in that if you are not going to give a good effort, it shows a deficiency in character. That belief has gotten me into trouble, well that and my mouth, because it seems that their is a extraordinarily vast difference in what people believe is a "good effort". -

Stormin Engine
Stormin reacted to expeatfarmer for a post in a topic
Yesterday I rescued a Norman twin cylinder 600cc marine engine. It was originally fitted to a small launch on Windermere. A neat little unit horizontally opposed crank start. The magneto has been modified to external coil ignition but looks as if it could be easily reversed. Not sure what I will do with it but too good to scrap, if there are any vintage boat enthusiasts that can make good use of it let me know. -

1 pointI DO TOO, Andrew. I love seeing the clothes, and houses, the cigs, and pipes, if you look up Popular Mechanics in google boos you can see all those old pictures and ads for cars tractors, boats airplanes, and electronics. I'm almost 58, I grew up during this time period, really neat to reminisce.

1 pointI got a few BOlens brochures and owners' manuals for my tractors. I love the 60s sales pitch and photography. I have a whole stack of literature for my Morris Minor LCV van going back years; all part of my collecting bug and I really dig that nostalgia too.

1 pointThere is another one on ebay, not as nice, for a little over 16 quid which is about what I paid for mine. I thought many of you wouldn't mind having a reproduction copy that you could print or save for free.

1 pointBeen doing some more piping up on the beaver, at least at work we have a crimping machine so I don't have to pay for hoses. Just need to sort out some jublie clips for the low pressure hoses and then I can give it a flow test. My new air filter cover also arrived today for the compact. All I need to do now is to find an elbow to match it.

So are my two, Paul. Prefer them to the kids. Less bother. -
1 pointThat's what I've used on the C-81 and C-121. I've added a piece on the rear of the foot plate as well, to stop boot heels marking there. You can just see on the photo below.

1 pointThanks Mark This morning while looking at the photo's of the master cylinders I had a flash of inspiration as you do.. This won't hit MooTube for a little while but I thought I'd give you a sneak preview.. This is the prototype so it needs a bit of refinement, but you will get the idea http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc140/Stigian/Why%20Not/th_Brake%20Demo_zpsgirdmxlk.mp4
