    Land Roller.

A little while back I acquired this roller. It's about a meter wide. I removed the shaft and bushes. This morning I knocked up some stub axles. Sorry about the photo quality. I got a bit to close with my camera. These were fitted where the bushes were and welded up. I'd bought new bearings and blocks and these are now fitted. I did purchase some box section and r.s.a. but made a slight boo boo. I didn't double up on some measurements. So tomorrow it's back to the steel stockists for some more and 12 x 75mm bolts.

    New workshop

Well it's down and home. Unfortunately where it is lying is where it's going! Mums going to be chuffed when she hears her washing lines getting shifted. I'm not looking forward to taking this with me when I move out in a few years.

    South Downs Heritage Centre

After our visit to Amberley today, Wendy and I went home via Hassocks and the South Downs Heritage Centre at the Tates garden centre. The display has been much revised since we last visited and is still work in progress, here's some views of what vintage machines are on display at the moment...

According to their flyer, Amberley Museum in West Sussex had their Spring Mechanicals Day today... We went for a look as we had not visited the museum for many years. It is based in the old Chalk Pits at Amberley and has many interesting displays including a Southdown Bus garage, Industrial railway, the actual kilns themselves, a large woodturning and woodcraft area and many more attractions, well worth a visit. Lurking by the bus stop, in direct sight of the café we found Mr Showman and Steve Durrant with their machines, there was also plenty of other machinery to look at. Here's some photos...

    Amberley Spring Mechanicals Day

Good photos as usual Paul, wasn't as busy as last year i guess everyone went to the beach instead. we had a good day with lots of interest in the chicken plucking machine and the rowcrop. the mag started to play up this afternoon so I didn't run the engine long and sat and had ice cream instead.

    New workshop

Spotted this on eBay only about 6 miles from me, went to see it and done a deal. It's fully insulated and built superbly, the doors are about 4 inches thick and the guy reckons it is warmer than his cottage! He had it built with a total cost of £6k I paid less than £1k for it, just need to get it to bits, lay a concrete pad and rebuild it! Easy! Shame none of you live closer I could do with a hand! It's going to weigh a lot! 10ft X 16ft, wil take up all the patio

This one Norm. ? With the Showman wondering what it would look like painted RED. Or is there another Alan with a roper. ? 1978 GT16 6 speed. 16 hp Briggs horizontal opposed twin. Not had enough use out of it since restoring, so can't really comment on how reliable the engine and transmission is, although all appears OK so far. Just need to fit the correct drive belt instead of the temporary one. Restoration log under 1978 SEARS /ROPER GT16 in Step by Step restoration

the engine seems lovely, the previous owner had just spent £110 on a new coil for it......seems to have good oil pressure, ticks over very low and doesnt smoke..so i guess time will tell....i cant live with the bonnet and steering so its definately going to get modified...i will keep in mind the air flow..i wouldnt of given it a second thought if you hadnt of mentioned it so thanks for that tip!!!!

I know that the Kohler twin engines in the Bolens Large Frames (1886 models) have a tendency to overheat but whether that is the design of the engine or the lack of air glow within the engine bay I am not too certain. One thing for sure if the engine is shot it will be very expensive to repair.

    Titch' shed(s)

Ha, or is it more trendy to say lol? no, I'll stick with Ha! Yes, decent buildings , Nissen hut was in a poor state on each gable, but now timbered up and tidier. Cleaned out, almost, ready for log storage and ride on's. The brick one is the old milking parlour and is a decent size, just about there with it now..other end has doors Chris, the bricked up end is by the back of the house...but, could of course be changed... ...no, it's fine as it is. My Lad put my electric supply in recently, so chuffed with it really... at least my President has a choice of bedrooms!!

    BVG 2016

I went today just for a visit and meet up with Mark, his mum and dad and the twins. Some photo's of the day. Mark and Ewan in the parade. I liked this. Westwood with a nice diesel engine. Nice little BMC. Lambretta powered city van. Only one know about. Don't show this to the children. Marks dad, Frank. (Norlet) One horse power gin wheel driving all the machines in the background. I must say the 214 mile round trip and 5 hours of driving was worth it. I'll try and get a weekend pass next year.
