    Cub Cadet 70 restoration

Well it's about 99.9% finished, the fenders and a few other bits have now been bolted on ready for tomorrow's show so here are a few photos. The original number plate has now been put back on.

    The Race is On

With Newby fast approaching i thought I'd better start getting my stuff together, the first being the Trachorse as its been in the drive since last year. had a few things to do, here's the list. exhaust fell off, slew levers seized up, throttle butterfly and choke seized up. fuel tank had a load of crap in it and the fuel pipes perished and leaking. got most of it sorted today just need some fuel pipe and some radiator paint for the exhaust

A grand day out today at the Northallerton Rugby Club in North Yorkshire. The second year of this event and thanks to the date change one that we could attend this year as it falls the weekend before Newby Hall. Many Thanks to John and Angela Webster for their organising, it was a nice relaxed day that saw the debut of young Ewans Cub Cadet 70 after a lengthy restoration - it really is as good as it looks in the photos !! Here's some photos...

Get BBQ paint for the exhaust, Chris. Much better than radiator paint.

    Ransomes Turf Trac /Steiner

Finally managed to find a Turf Trac, typically I have been looking for a couple of years finally bought one from way down south only to find another for sale on Gumtree at Annan 30 miles away ( lot more money ). This one is fitted with a 4ft front mounted cutting deck. The reason I wanted one was that trying to move a dead crawler from one garage to the workshop was just too much for my ride on mower and using a live crawler just chews up the drive and the garage floor. 16.5hp Kubota three cylinder engine starts and runs well. Hydraulic lift front and rear , front and rear pto. four wheel hydrostatic drive with twin ratio axles 11 miles an hour top speed. Pulls like a train and turns in a 36inch inner circle. Needs a new seat some decals and a general tidy up. Typical it rained persistently after delivery so limited playing time.

    Cub Cadet 70 restoration

After using up all of the stock of yellow paint from my local ag merchant they ordered some more from another one of their stores, two days later it arrived and it was a different brand of paint somewhere along the line the paint code got lost so in desperation we made a 60 mile round trip (thanks mum) to another ag merchant and I finally got the paint meaning the last parts could be painted . I made a new gasket for the transmission. The wiring has now been finished and the lights work The bonnet got its final coat of paint and my IH wheel weights arrived (thanks @Charlie Smith) And here it is, nearly finished just a few little bits left to bolt on but it starts and runs like new! I'm very happy

    New Toys Picked Up Today

Well today I picked up my new toy(s) to keep my busy this year. As most of you know I've wanted a bigger scale tractor for a while now and the right opportunity came along last week. I will still be exhibiting my smaller rides on's at many shows and meets along with you lot but I now have something different to play with as well!.... can never have enough! An old boy was selling his 1950 Ferguson TEA-20 tractor so I went and had a look, Its far from mint, but it starts, drives and all hydraulics work perfectly (the brake are a bit sharp too ) It needs a restoration over the summer and thankfully new parts are readily available and at a quite cheap cost as well. I plan on replacing all the taps, caps, hoses, nuts, bolts, seat cushion and steering wheel etc, along with all new oils and filters and of course give it a good all round service. I haven't done much to it today in fact nothing at all, only check the oils and then go for a quick play over the back fields however all the name plates have been painted over out of curiosity I sat and scratched one off and it revealed a plate that read. SUSSEX TRACTOR LTD Ferguson Main Dealers 33 THE HIGH STREET, UCKFIELD so it turns out it started its life not very far from me at all. I was very happy with the deal we had come up with and thought It cant get much better.... but then it did, the old boy was pleased I am going to restore it and show it again, after a chat he chucked in 2 Lister D engines with loads of spares, a water pump for the engines and some sort of root cutter. I already have one of these Lister D type engines so that now makes 3 of them Here is some pictures, I hope to keep you all updated as and when I do bits and bobs to the machines!
