    Forgot about this

While i was up Johns on tuesday i found this in the undergrowth, i knew it was there but didn't bother before but after a bit of thought I decided to throw it in the van. its a nice little turn table with solid wheels probably off a 4 wheel cart. I've given it a good soaking with wd40 now the wheels go round and the table spins quite freely. Thought i would make a recovery dolly out of it when I've got some free time

    Implement shed.

For sometime I've been thinking of building an implement shed. Today I decided to make a start. I had some decking boards and 2 x 3 I salvaged when we sold the caravan. Few measurements taken and I decided I'd enough to make the frame work. In between another job I was doing, I got the side frames done. 8ft x 5ft with a 3" fall.

    The Roller from Cromer

This is what I'm going to be pulling it with, so if you can pull it on the flat I'm not going to have a problem

    MARINA LOCK SWAP.

Another of the Showman's little jobs today, along with his Bolens wind up, was to change the steering lock / ignition assembly on one of John's Marina's. I was amazed at how quick he did it especially as the shear bolts used on assembly leave nothing to get a spanner onto and are in a recess in the casting. When asked how he managed it so quickly, his face turned as red as his new Wheelhorse tea shirt and muttering under his breath, said that it was best if I didn't know. After bribing him with more tea he said he had to get home somehow after spending all his money on late night sessions with booze and blondes in his teenage days, and that other drinkers were left wondering where their cars had gone. His effort today resulted in this Marina having a working ignition system and with a bit more work will spring to life again.

    MARINA LOCK SWAP.

It brings back great memories of my old Ital estate years ago that I paid something like £75 for as it had a small hole in the sill.. Only 55k on the clock as well.. After welding up the hole in the sill for some reason I decided to paint the floor with hammerite while the seats and carpet were out.. Roll on 8 hours later when the Ital was needed to get some food and booze... So the seats were quickly bolted back in and off we drove putting the heater on as it was a cold evening... By the time we had reached the supermarket (this was years ago and I can't remember which one), the fresh paint fumes helped my some hot air had gone to our heads somewhat.. It was rather strange to feel like you are floating while shopping.. Picture hands on the shopping trolley but feet no touching the ground sort of thing!!

I still like the idea of a dolly, its easier to take to shows and I can tow broken down Bole tractors around. if I make a log trailer i'll have to cart logs to a show to demo it

Another exhausting update, but only a small one.. Working out how to get the down pipes into the big pipe without having any pipes in front of the radiator and making sure the down pipes are the same length has been fun! It's still work in progress but it's heading in the right direction The down pipes almost look like part of the chassis/frame from the front, but it may just be a slightly blurred photo that's creating the illusion

Another Bolens hiding in the brambles

You had me going with this one, especially as I am convinced another Bolens (or part of one) is about somewhere. I was on the edge of my seat and getting excited, not good at my age Last time I was this excited was when I realised Kylie had a sister Iain

I've recently had my Allan engine running again after nearly two years in pieces. If you don't wish to watch the preparations the start up is at 7 minutes.

Don't know how old your engine is Gareth, but it look's like the low 250-650cc original early Jap engines onwards used the same size Exhaust Flange Nut?. I don't know if Villiers made any chnges ?. Could the TPI be 20?. and the outer dia across the threads be 2" or 50.8mm (actual). If so, then the Thread form could be BSF (0.0500" pitch and thread height of 0.032". This will give a Core dia (or Tapping diameter) of 1.937" (49.2mm). There appears to be a worldwide search by many for used versions, as the price of a new (manufactured) one is silly money. See this link where the numbers seem to merge ok if 20 tpi- http://de.vintage-motorcycle.com/index.php?language=en&site=4&pid=24&id=26427&limit=0 They can be made!.
