Whilst at the Autumn Tractor World show Jim Beacon approached me and alerted me to another Farmer's Boy for sale...... The words "with attachments" kinda set my ears on high alert as I have been looking for one of these for some time. Jim was unsure which model it was and I assumed it was another Minor with bits? So I agreed to give it a new home.......... Imagine my delight when Jim messaged me to say it was the earlier Light Tractor model with the cast gearbox! 2 weekends ago it was delivered and I am really pleased with my latest purchase. Here it is as delivered, with the large cast wheels for ploughing fitted....... and its attachments. I have fitted the smaller rubber wheel and tyres to make it somewhat easier to move around!

Found a spare ball hitch in the workshop. So I knocked up this. Bit to close with the camera.

    Scaled down westwood

Well, I was going to wait until I got a bit more advanced before posting but here is my 1/2 size D series Wheelhorse. The Showman and I have just had test runs which look promising although it was difficult to sit properly with temporary tiller steering and footrests. Hopefully it will be better when finished, but if not plan Z is to be towed on a trailer. Just roughly bolted together for now.

    Medding's Pacera Pillar Drill

Just pickied up the new ? pillar drill . A Meddings Pacera with a couple of differences to what i have seen on youtube . 1 / Chuck +33mm threaded end to the quill ? 2 / Tin cowling instead of the common cast one ? 3 / Pillar mounted excentric pulley set between motor pulley and quill drive pulley , acting as the tensioner ? But it came with a Brooks Gryphon motor and the chuck key , and was surprisingly light when split into 2 pieces ( Base and pillar with top removed ) . But the weirdest thing is that the Buma Boring bar i got a few weeks ago is machine number 34 . The Meddings Pacera i collected today is machine number 34 also . Anyone have any ideas on the 33mm threaded end on the quill , as i wondered if it was for a boring head by any chance . ( Loads of history judging by the plaques fitted to it ) . Though there is only a trace of the speed table left on the side .

Farmer's Boy Light Tractor and Attachments

Hi, Darren. There are the remains of one, possibly two, at John's place. Might have posted photo's under Bolens Stash a good while ago. One has the cast wheels, the other which is just the gearbox and wheels has rubber tyres. Not sure if these are the same model as yours but will have a look and take photo's next visit on Tuesday.

Thats awesome! During the summer I started making a 1/10th scale Cub Cadet, not sure it could be driven though.

Morning all, let's start this update with a very good reason to buy a decent Mig welder... As I've been going round welding up MT's frame there has been the odd weld or three to tidy up... This was gone with my old MigMate hobby welder, and even though I was welding from underneath it looks horrible and not very strong! But once it was all ground back and hit with my Murex TradesMig 165 it looked like this So there ya go boys and girls, bin the hobby Mig and get something more trade like but nothing new (Made in China) and cheap... My Murex is at least 20 years old and will outlast me I expect A heat shield has been made from some thick ally to stop the exhaust cans from melting the seat.. The rear mounts are just captive nuts welded onto the seat mounting plates.. The fronts were mounting brackets that I think used to hold the bodywork on.. Strong with a threaded hole.. That will do nicely Slowly the frame is getting weled and cleaned up.. Some more strength was added a the front where new tubes meet old... Yes the square plate is offset, but so are the lower tubes.. By this point I was starting to get bored with the "weld, grind, weld, clean off some rust, weld, grind, weld, grind" side of things, so I dug the fuel take out and bolted it in place.. Even with the bars, gauges etc bolted on you could see down inside the tank from the front which really bugged me.. So it had to be covered over but I still wanted some air to blow under the tank.. The last bit of my first (and very rubbish) mig welded came in handy once again, this time donating some louvers. Some cutting and welding later... Welded on the tank though a bit of trimming is needed.... The tank will fit in place as it should, you just can't get it on

    Electro Flow Pump

I've just finished cleaning up the pump and repairing the recoil, came out pretty good. Since the paint and decals are fairly decent, I decided not to repaint it.
