    An update on this one, the car is sold and has another amazing twist, I have copied and pasted this from the Wolseley forum.... Back to the entombed Wolseley.....Now I've worked out that this car is in Dorking, I've now also recalled that Peter lived next door to the building/shop in Roger's photo's and recalled that Peter had a BIG Wolseley 40 years back. Roger had revealed that he was dealing with the tomb opening for his uncle, and now I'm thinking....could this be Peter's old car? ...was this where Peter stored it? surely not, not after all this time! All it left me was to PM Roger and hope he would call me. The same day I received a telephone call and within minutes Roger revealed that it WAS Peter's car and YES, it was the same car that he had all them years ago. I explained the above situation and I believe he was as shocked as me. Within an hour and a half I was on his driveway with my 6/110 and uncovering a very large Wolseley 6/90 in grey, the very same vehicle that Peter used to drag me to work on many a cold morning back in the mid 70s .........UNBELEIVABLE!!! I made an offer to buy it there and then and had it confirmed today by Roger, that Peter was SO SO happy that the car was going to me and sent a message that the deal was good, only if I took him out in his old car when I'd returned it to the road..... PETER, it will be an honour to return the favours you did me all them years ago...a wild, party going, discovered girly's, candle burner from both ends, long haired (the fashion) 17 year old. It's a CHALLENGE mate.

    Model traction engine.

    I was just perusing the site and came across this thread, an ideal place for another one of my machines. This was started when my son was a babe in arms, It was going to be a piddler....I couldn't bring myself to build it so simply. it grew like Topsy all scratch built made up as I went along. My son is now 30... the engine is nearly finished It has been steamed once and I towed myself along standing on a pallet truck:)

    Offloaded my trailer today ready to move my machines around using a temporary garage/tent I have put up. I used my Turftrak to pull the dead machines off the trailer, what a fantastic little machine it is , climbs slopes like a mountain goat, I was amazed that it could pull the skimmer the tracks are stiff with sitting for 25 years and on top of that there is a double reduction gearbox with huge wind up to overcome, no problem the hydrostatic transmission just steadily pulled, slipped a bit on the wet trailer and then it was off and towed it down the gravel easily. If anyone is looking for a powerful little tractor for trailer work or just around a big garden then this is the machine to go for. Trying hard to find a front loader for it as well as the rear three point linkage. It tows my big twin axle car trailer about without missing a beat superb machine.

    Morning all, my back has kinda put me out of action for a while, so only a small update as it's all I've managed. Now.. A couple of people have told me I'm mad for making my own wheel PCD adaptors and I should just buy some!! All I can say to that is I'm making them because I can All it's costing me is time... Lot's and lot's of time! Starting with a slightly heavy 40mm thick square of steel. The center has been marked with a punch and a circle drawn so I know where to slice the corners off. This is a bit hard to see but here's my workings out to see if the wheel PCD adaptors could actually be made and the two PCD's didn't clash! As always when trying to get a 4 bolt PCD inside a 5 bolt PCD somewhere two of the bolt/stud holes are going to be close! They get even closer when you put a socket on the wheel nut! If your confused it may help if I mention that the small circle next to the socket is where a stud will be for bolt the new wheels onto. And the wheel nuts for the Reliant axle will be countersunk so there is no wheel/stud/nut clearance problems.. Once the corners were sliced off the slab went on the lathe. One side was faced off and a couple of grooves cut to mark out the PCD's before I started boring out the center. Once the center was bored out I turned the slab around to start on the other side. Just about on the size limit for my lathe here! If the diameter been a 1/4 inch wider I wouldn't of been able to get a cutting tool on to make the slab round! I'm just glad that after 8 years of owning the lathe I managed to work out how to bolt on a bracket and some cogs to give me power feed up and down the bed! It does make lathe work a bit boring but at least I only have to turn the handles half as much

    BOLENS STASH UPDATE

    Another heavy lump on it's way to a new home. The second Colchester lathe being moved from John's shed. This move went very smoothly and a lot quicker than expected with a bit of forward planning. A few rollers, a hefty crowbar, a winch and it was on the trailer in no time. A few photo's of the event. Thanks again Philip. We are now getting near the end of finding new homes for John's stash as most of the major items have now gone. Still some reserved items to be collected when convenient, plus the contents of the two small caravans to be sorted. These are mainly car parts, Austin 7 /10 plus numerous other small odds and ends.

    Hi all oh well I've done it again as the turf Trac is nearing completion I've got my next project lined up which I bought on that auction site it's come with a blown Mitsubishi engine so I've decided to put a kubota engine in , but this isn't gonna be no straight swap,everything has to be changed to make it fit and within havin a manual gear box everything needs to be just right for the clutch here's what I've got

    Managed to carefully jack up the side on the bank just enough to get the track back on. Jacked up the front so we could just get a thick plank, (No comments thank you) under the front of the other track as a ramp and drove it out with the aid of a Fordson Dexta. He said I could drive it, but between a cup of coffee on his veranda, chatting and admiring the view, I forgot.

    Old machine I am digging out tomorrow

    I found the right man to move her so here are some pictures of the move from garage to my driveway. Last night I pumped up the tyres then I was able to get a trolley jack under so that I could remove the back wheels and give the drums a good belt with a hammer until the brakes let off. Out in daylight for the first time in years Leaving this bit to the experts, nice bloke, good job and a good price. The only missing part seems to be a rear over rider, the sills, front valance and front wings are a bit crusty but it is 55 years old.

    A Simple Lathe Indexing Job

    Bit limited until I get the new Glasses, but I decided to make a Classic/Vintage looking replacement Spark Plug Screw Cap. Regretfully, I had to make it to fit a modern Metric threaded Plug . I made an Indexing tool a long time ago that allowed me to make and Mark Out a lot of parts for my Traction Engine. It just bolts onto the Change Wheel Quadrant (Myford ML7) and a Mandrel that fits/locks into the end of the Spindle to carry any number toothed Change Wheel. For this job. I only needed to use the 25 toothed Spindle Driven Gear (removed the Tumbler Reverse selector Lever and Stud)- Stub of 1/2" dia Brass turned down to shape, drilled and tapped M4 . I used a 60 deg pointed lathe tool on it's side set on the C/Line and proceeded to manually pass the Tool across the face taking small light cuts to 20thou deep, then turned and locked the Lathe Spindle with the pointed screw in the next tooth groove and repeated. In progress and prior to Parting Off from the Stub- . The result is a nice clean grooved rim to grip with the fingers for tightening on the Spark Plug. I do have Knurling Wheels so I can make a Clamp type Knurling Tool, but preferred the straight grooves for this job. I'll make a BA Threaded one as well for when I find a good genuine vintage Lodge CB3 Plug for the Villiers.

    Life is a funny old thing at times... I swapped WN's original Wh trans out with it's 5 bolt wheel fixings for a Reliant axle which is a 4 wheel bolt fitting.. Then spend loads of time converting 5 bolt wheels to 4 bolt fitting... And now I'm about to start converting the Reliant 4 bolt to fit 5 bolt wheels back on!! It's not as mad as it might sound you know.. Why??? Well it's a safety thing you see... Now WN has proved herself at going sideways (did anyone get any photo's of my BTF arena antics?), the time has come to starting thinking about something a bit faster and in a straight line.. After some careful thought the chances of going sideways at high speed is far more likely on a grass airstrip than tarmac, so with that in mind something more sticky on tarmac was found.. next door as it happens The tyres have a V speed raiting which means they are good up to 149mph!! I just need to find some better tyres for the front wheels now.. All of the above means I have some work to do to make the wheels fit, so this big old slab of steel was dug out to make a couple of wheel bolt convertors.. I see a lot of lathe work coming up in the very near future The shape eye'd of you will of noticed a something lurking in the background of the above photo.. Yep I have bought another CX/GL/silverwing engine for doing a bit of development on.. I won't give my plans away yet (those who know please keep quite if you would be so kind ) as I won't be doing anything with the engine for a long time yet, but I will say it should produce a bit more power than a standard CX/GL engine
