Bolens 800
Stormin and one other reacted to Triumph66 for a post in a topic
I am having a quick cuppa in between working on the Bolens 800. At last I got around to fitting the anmeter gauge this morning as well as greasing up all the nipples. Battery gone flat though..... Got the battery on a trickle charger so hope that will cure that little problem. Everything seem to be ok as everything moves freely and the gears engages where they should. I am now going to order some belts for this as the old ones are a wee bit frayed. Also taken some better photos too. -

Project "Why Not"
Vinnetrow and one other reacted to Ian for a post in a topic
Thanks Chris, your not the first person to mention club hammers Thanks Tom, seeing Why Not's true stance was the reason for getting her off the bench, She looked very tall on the bench and very low when off Thanks Ben, it will be good to catch up with you again A bit more progress, the second brake disc and spacer/hub adapter thingy have been made and welded to the hubs... Brake caliper in place but not fitted yet. Almost full lock.. One thing bugged me with the outside photo's... The fender pan looked to be leaning towards the back!! But with a bit of box section wedged under the back a much meaner aggressive look emerged... I guess I have a few tweaks to do in this department -

Just thought i would introduce myself to everyone I'm pretty new here but already love this site, I love all old machines especially old ride one and compact tractors. I have started out repairing newer machines and selling on but my real passion is anything old and vintage that needs restoring its a pleasure seeing something old and neglected taken and restored. I have just bought an old bolens which I believe is an 850 I have added a gallery and as you can see not only has some one ripped it to bits and painted it green I have quite a big job on my hands being my first restoration I intend to hopefully take it back as near to original condition as possible there a some parts missing which hopefully I can get hold of in the future.... Any tips and advice will be appreciated and hopefully some of you out there might have a few parts for sale -
1 pointI am not sure if this is the correct section to post this, if not hopefully someone will move it. I have just noticed a crazy modified WH on that well know auction site, that has a Ford V4 engine. It has had such an impact on the seller he has forgotten how to spell so you will need to search for "Modfide Wheel Horse" to see it. I wonder if the seller is related to Ian and I hope it does not give Ian too many ideas otherwise we will be seeing a V8 project soon :) Iain

1 pointI'll certainly be buying one or two more triumph66 just need to figure out where to hide them from the girlfriend haha I know all the electrics and lights are missing, all the PTO workings and housing are gone. I got the engine running the other day so I'm just starting to strip and catalogue it all to see what's there and what's missing

it's kind of on my list - but I've made a few sets for these for customers including DJ, I recognise the number. It's a B-80, made in Oevel and probably a friday afternoon job... -

Great work Ian, I can only agree with everyone's comments, I like the vid and have watched it a couple of times, to save all that lathe work you could have used a couple of club hammer heads -
1 pointI can attest to the workmanship of both Ian and Nigel's projects when I visited a few back. When I visited, unannounced, they were busy working on Ian's WH project. Obviously they have talked through their ideas to get to that stage. I like to call them the Dynamic Duo as they seem to crack on with their respective projects.

1 pointit was a pleasure to help ian, and i dont know which one of us had the biggest smile on there face when we rolled it out into the sunlight, i can honestly say people just dont understand the work that goes into projects like this, and you hav"nt taken any short cuts this machine will be stunning when finished

1 pointThanks Norm.. I think I have worked out the steering now, but more on that when it happens Thanks guy's... Your fascination with dogs private parts is a bit worrying though Thanks Iain.. With both kingpin steering pivot thingys welded up (although in need of a little cosmetic grinding), the time had come to mount them to the front axle at an angle of 80 degrees A close up for ya all.. And at last Why Not is finally on all four wheels.. Yes the camber is a bit radical but that will be sorted when some nylock nuts arrive hopefully tomorrow. Of course now with Why Not rolling she had to be taken off the bench and wheel outside for a look at her on ground level.. But before those photo's a BIG to Nigel for helping all day yesterday to get Why Not on all fours.. Thanks Mate A few photo's taken in the great out doors And for your viewing pleasure a video
