Got another wall plastered and some more sockets and lights in on Friday night. Next jobs are the big front doors and some insulation in the roof, the weather has turned and it's pretty cold and misty most days on the edge of the moors. -

Homelite XL Tool collection
pmackellow reacted to Wallfish for a post in a topic
Homelite tools from the 60's. These were all based using the same 2 stroke engine from the XL-12 chainsaw. XL-12 Chainsaw, XL-100 Circular saw, XL-A115 Generator, Drill Attachment, XL-SG1 Water pump, XLMB Military Blower. ( I have the XLBC Brush Cutter, but can't find the pics) Still searching for the earth auger, the Harvester, a better example of the water pump and any other applications -

Ploughing tractor build.
Joe the small engine man reacted to moogie for a post in a topic
As Wheel Horse, Bolens and Cub Cadet's are thin on the ground over here my only other option is to build my own. So i have started collecting parts that will be required for the build. Managed to find an old generator engine Cheep! A Honda GX270 9hp, it might be a little under powered for what i want to do with it but it will do until i find something bigger. Next up i got a hold of a Suzuki Vitara axle with a 5.12:1 ratio which will be narrowed Panzer style. Roughly 12 inches will need to be cut out of each side. After a couple of hours cleaning, cutting off brackets and a coat of primer it now looks like this. Just need to build up the courage now to break out the grinder and start chopping up the axle. A couple of rims were found next. 6x16. O/A height of the rear wheels will be about 28inches. I already had the front axle that came with the chassis for the silage harvester,so that will be used with larger wheels. The axle is a heavy cast iron unit so should be plenty strong enough. Last part for now is two new 4.00x8 three rib front tyres. O/A height 16inches. Thats all the parts for now, going on Thursday night to have a look at a Bedford CF gearbox, it might be a bit of overkill but at least i wont have to make any wheel weights up to get traction. -

New Tractor

I already have a 416H Hydro and 416S shuttle shift, both with electric lifts and clutches. The shuttle shift is basically a four speed hydro. I have a snow blower, tiller snow plow, cultivators, harrow, and mid mount grader blade, as well as three decks, so this and the extra standard block and bevel gear box will come in handy -
1 pointAn interesting buy. Look forward to seeing more updates on this.

New Tractor

Okay, its not a Gilson. It is a Allis, a real Allis Chambers made by Allis Chambers. Its a 1974 416 Hydro, Hmm I have some these already, but what the hay. It came with an extra block and bevel gear box, and all the original manuals and paper work from 1974. Allis ordered a certain number of the new K341 engines from kohler in late 1973 to put in the 400 series tractor, but a problem arose when Allis found out that a monopoly lawsuit against them was being overturned and they would be allowed to have Simplicity build their Outdoor Power equipment again. The problem was they had decided to make a 410, 414, and 416, but with the suit settled they would not need the 16hp Allis 400 spec'd engines. The 10hp K301 and 14hp weren't a problem in not accepting for delivery, Kohler could move these engines to another brand, but the new 16hp K341 was a new model engine and Allis had made a commitment to buy a certain number of these and could not retract. Allis decided to put more 16hp engines in what would have been 14hp 414 Hydros. That is why you only see Allis 414 shuttle shifts, not hydros the hydros were changed to 16hp and 416 model to use up the engines due to the plant closing and the 400 series model ending the same year it started. -

Hate this bit, lots of priming, sanding, undercoating and painting, its like watching paint dry, oh wait it was !! This will give you the idea of why i call it "Kermit". And here it is all put back together. Since then it has received new wheels and cleated rear tyres. Future plans are for a new exhaust that exits at the rear axle and a three point hitch. Thanks for looking. -

pmackellow reacted to Wallfish for a post in a topic
Added some more pieces to the Homelite powered tool collection. Upgraded to a better example of the XLS Water Pump. The old one had a broken handle and was missing the gas tank. An XL-12 toy chainsaw with box And a Millitary version of the XL-A115 generator.
