Some photo's taken on a visit to the above. This Caterpillar combine below, has to be seen to be believed. Absolutely gorgeous. Something for the Ransomes boys. This strange thing is a cutter chucker for making silage. If you look closely at this Leyland you will notice it's all cut away.

While inspecting the Harvester engine, I found it must have been stored in a damp area for a long time as it had some issues so a semi rebuild was in order. New rings, gaskets and seals with a thorough cleaning of all the roller bearings and a carb rebuild. Got it all back together and here's a short video of the first test run. Started up and ran but died out. Still need to adjust the carb and change the fuel as I run it heavy on oil for the first fire up. Steve sent the pole and tree jaw so hopefully I can get it all together this weekend and shake a tree. I'll post another video of it in operation. http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt316/wallfish1/th_Harvester%20video.mp4

    Farmers Boy Minor

Thanks Chris! Will be unusual for me not to restore something........ But seeing guys and gals actually getting in the dirt and playing with their machines has me curious? Gotta give it a go! I will be checking all is in fine fettle beforehand, hence the engine being off the 2nd machine, don't want any unreliability do we??? (no mentions of the Gem and Bantam at Ardingly..........) Anyways here are a couple of daylight piccies....

    Day's Gone By.

Here is a photo of my Grandfather(driving) with his first tractor. We think it was in the early 50's, go by the age of my mother and two uncles. I would love to have this tractor today but i think it was exported to South Africa. Is there any way to find out if it is still in the UK? Another old photo of my mum when she was about sixteen on her way to feed the hens. Could you picture asking a teenager to do this today!

    For Sale

Hi, Friends-- I've run upon hard times these days, and would like to offer my O&R/Polaris Power Pole Outboard for sale. I'd like a fair price for it (fair to us both) and prefer someone here to have it rather than a squabble on Ebay. Hopefully, someone can offer a reasonable price for it, plus shipping. I've been out of work for about 15mo. now, and may have to go on SS if I can't stay afloat much longer. Here are some pix; the Carburetor section shows the carb of this unit being rebuilt, and other sections show the interior of it all. A video is here: http://vid211.photobucket.com/albums/bb92/laserscottman/IMG_0665.mp4 My email is: Laserscottman@sbcglobal.net

    Ransomes MG2 number 137

Only just read this - Not so sure about "apparently no lapping required" . I bought a set of Neway seat cutters forty years ago and always lap in after refacing valves and re-cutting seats . Would consider it good workshop practice (as opposed to manufacturers assembly ) . The Black and Decker valve refacer dates back to the days when they made proper tools and incorporates a vernier attachment for grinding valve stems on engines without adjustable tappets.

    Day's Gone By.

Don't be too upset, the U.S. government can't find 11 million Immigrant workers, but they nailed down the exact stall that contained the cow that started Mad Cow disease, go figure.
