A few bits and piece's this time. As previously said the tow bar / plate was damaged and cracked. Could have been welded up but a new tow bar was made along with a smaller one for the front of the tractor. These were bolted on. The fuel tank retaining bracket was another missing part. A new one was made up from plate with rubber buffers. Copied as near as possible from photo's. Five of the ten wheel bolts were missing. Again nothing found this side of the pond, and a silly price at the other side. Plenty of 7/16th unf but nothing UNC. If there was I couldn't find any. The heads of standard 7/16th bolts were too thin to machine a cone so these were modified by drilling and tapping old 3/8 unf wheel nuts, from John's place, then fixed to the bolt using lock tight then pinning with dowels. The heads then filed down to match the surviving originals. Would have been quicker to weld, but that's the way I went. Even the seat bracket had been welded up. The seat was in very poor condition. The pan could have been welded up but the padding was too far gone. A Honda seat was obtained from one of John's friends and a modified mounting made up. No close up photo's of this. The last photo's for now are of the wings and fuel tank.

    Woodstore / Shed makeover

As it was a nice sunny day I managed to get the front wall done. First job was the bottom rail, I drilled through the concrete and fixed it down with 4 10mm x 175 mm anchor bolts then made a frame to attach the wall boards, I've put silicon in between the joints just to make it extra water tight. Just a pair of doors to make now ( when i get some more wood ). Here's a couple of pictures for Norm to look at .

Hi all had another full day on the project , I've finally finished the new power steering tank that has took a lot of fabrication , I am trying to make everything as compact as possible so I have squeezed it in between the engine and the steering unit . I have also started the wiring so I can start easier with out jump leads I have also fitted an alternator , I'm in decided yet weather that's its final resting place or weather I shall move it nearer the engine bay which will be difficult but I am going to see , the alternator in its present location sticks out of the bonnet slightly but is in line with the hydraulic pump ,

    Hayter Osprey

Similar issues to the Osprey, front end rot and terminal damage to the right angle drive transmission if run dry . Still can't get my head round the price being asked for that Osprey - could be a long time waiting for the right customer at that price. There's been a Ransomes Antelope on ebay for £400 - reduced from £500 with no takers. Not surprising when I've just bought one in similar condition for £37.50 and another far better one for £75.

yes it is, the last time i used it was about 10 years ago they are very good but you must consider the cost against how much you will use it, it was very expensive and this is only the second time its been used in ten years but saying that it would work great on your crawlers and my very nearly new one could be for sale

To whom it may concern: I am selling off most of my parts and will still be offering my diaphragms OFF of Ebay. Some of the parts are listed on Ebay, some are not. I have not decided which units that I will be selling, but I have close to 40 and most are mint or restored and many are quite rare. If there is one that you have been looking for, please inquire and I will see what I can do. There won't be many bargains because of their condition and rarity, but I will deal a bit off of Ebay. Eventually they will go up for auction. Thanks, and you can email me at weber.joseph@sbcglobal.net Joe

Thanks Chris, though I have to say of all the work we have done on HG, the bondo is the only part I've not really enjoyed.. It's horrible stuff! You had best watch out mate, if you go home looking the part your wife might make you do some baking Well, the paint saga continues but this time it has worked out better Nigel ordered a tin of IH red made by Farm Line and on 1st opening it looked a little dark but would lighten up when fully stirred.. Fully stirred it was still a little darker than the IH red we had been using, but we liked it more, it's less orange than what we had been using.... Soooo, all the parts including the chassis which we had painted will be getting another coat of the darker red.. A lot of extra work but worth it as colour is much better A start has been made..

    GET ME OUT OF HERE.

It's had a bit of a wash today followed by a spray of diesel to 'enhance' the rust Todays push / pull vehicle was my Fordson Major, which being dated to 1954 makes it only 10 years newer than the N. Some where in between the two came the E27N Fordson (1945 to 1952). Unfortunately the O/S/F tyre didn't stay on the bead but did stay on the wheel. Re-positioning the bar got it moving in the right direction but did bend the bar. The bluey green isn't the correct colour for the N as it should be green throughout (excluding the wheels) but if i can get it running it may be left as is for a while. The offside wing was also loosened to allow it to pivot back round into its correct place. Now the drive chain & gears can be seen. Having left diesel in the bores to loosen the rings the next job is to fit new front tyres & tubes & possibly strip the carb' to stop it flooding. Philip

    GET ME OUT OF HERE.

Here's our other Standard Fordson. The orange parts (excluding wheels) date from roughly 1939, the green parts 1942 & the engine from 1945. When we first picked it up it was all green but after a good wash the orange reappeared. At present the tank & carburettor are off but the new valves are in & compression is lethal. When the head was off i noticed the pistons were stamped 60 thou oversize. Once i get the manifold & carb back on i'll try & get it running with the water leaks & split block still to do. The wheels are Major ones, put on to make it mobile but I have the originals. Philip
