Bristol 10
OldBuzzard and 7 others reacted to mg_rob for a post in a topic
Hi all, here are a few photos of my Bristol 10 taken a couple of years ago when we moved it from one shed to another. No electric start, you have to hand crank the Austin engine. Controls are a bit different to all my other crawlers in that there is only one steering lever, it makes running it up loading ramps quite tricky as you can't stop and brake both tracks. Throttle is via twist grip at the end of the steering lever. Last photo shows the Bristol beside my Ransome crawlers for an idea of size. Rob -

C4 has felt neglected lately and last weekend I decided to test its limits. It did pretty well, I think the limit is my own survival instinct -

Cub Cadet 70 restoration

Hmmm Someone better watch what they say.... Be a shame if I run out of mig wire, gas patience... I'm sure it will look good in yellow -
2 pointsAlso missing, what a surprise, was the belt guard and it's mounting bracket. I estimated the size and shape from photo's and made one up from alloy sheet and a cat food bowl. Not an exact copy but better than the nothing that was there before. The slotted plate, which fits just behind the guard was also made from alloy. Lots of other small parts were either bought or made including the steering wheel center. Most where not recorded or had photo's taken. The decals were made by my son. Difficult to know what exactly was originally fitted as various photo's showed different arrangements so a guess was made.

You could call it " Half a Horse" -
1 pointYes, it is a shame Paul. Had planned to use it and play on John's land, plus also hoped to take it to shows. But as said, once John has sold up I don't have room at home for it or a trailer to get it around. The plan now is a 1/2 size semi scale tractor which should fit into my Meriva. Just about big enough to sit on. This is partly built, ( slow job due to helping John ), using mainly bits from the Showman's favourite hunting ground and will be known as LITTLE HORSE. We have a Black horse, a Trac horse and a Shakin horse and maybe others so why not a Little Horse.

I owned one for all of 30 seconds! it was lotted with a Merry Tiller engine, which I wanted, I bid for it and got it for £20, I offered it to the underbidder but he just walked off, so another man took it for £10... -

1 pointThat's stunning work Ewan; you really are cracking on with it. Can't relax until I see the chassis painted in yellow; looking worryingly like your Dad's WH influence there......

If he's not at home Norm, he'll be at John's. -
1 pointBeen busy today cleaning up the chassis and painting, here's some pictures. I'm pleased with the result after a coat of etch primer, it feels like I'm getting somewhere now To help fill the rust pits I'm brushing on red oxide primer. My new toy arrived last week so hopefully it should speed up the restoration and hopefully I will be able to achieve a good clean surface so I can use etch primer.

Matter of opinion, good engine if oil changes and general maintenance is kept up, but if it's not they tend to be unforgiving, I had two asperas thow conrods on Howard Rotavator because my partners never heard of checking the oil on a machine before use, the first one I let her off, after the second shes been demoted to a fork and spade -
1 pointA little bit more done today, started dismantling the engine and starter generator. First I removed the pto and pulley. I have now removed all of the tin work and have started on the starter generator.

1 pointFound this on the net for sale, one problem though... It's in Australia! It's got a Lombardini deisel engine which is a common replacement for the crawlers.
