    New one on me.

This morning I've done something I've never done before. Heard the widow across the green dogs barking. Collie/Jack Russell crosses. Looking over, I could see her and her neighbour around some bushes and trees, at the corner of her property by the gate leading into a field. I watched for a while then thought I'd better go over. The dogs had chased a cat, of which there are too many round here. Feral and domestic. The cat had climbed a tree and the dogs had climbed after it. One had not gone far and got down it's self. The other had gone further up and couldn't get down. So me being me, climbed up after it and eventually manage to grab it's collar. On the way down the dog slipped it's collar and gravity took over. There was a thud and yelp as it reached terra firma. You can imagine the reaction of the women. I gave the dog a once over and it's ok. I've got cats out of trees and off roofs, but never a dog. I would have loved to see how it did it.

I think I may know how. I have a book all about how some dogs can fly and some can't, so it must be true

We received a new addition to the herd the other day. Mom's been hiding her for a day or so, but today she brought her up to the fence to show off. Were expecting three more very soon.

    Bolens 176 cutting grass

I mow every 4th day, this time was the Bolens 1476's maiden voyage on the lawn, she performed flawlessly, albeit no striped look of a Simplicity/Allis, but a carpet like cut that was top notch.

A neighbour has just asked me to sort out a Howard Rotavator that has stood unused for twenty years and the fuel tank was in a similar state. Clean now but with more perforations in the bottom than a certain brand of tea bag! Thanks for the birthday wishes from forum members - celebrated with a visit to the dentist for a crown, £££!!! OMG!

Quick update. I looked inside the tank and the scum and floating rusty participles was noticeable. I have shaken it a few times in the last 24 hours and tomorrow I think I might put the tank in the back of the pickup as I got a good 45 minutes drive tomorrow there and back. Might help remove even more filth. On my way back I popped into our local John Deere supplier to buy the Stihl Evo 2 stroke fuel for my hedge trimmer when I spotted a sale on for 5 L containers of unleaded petrol produced by Viking (part of the Stihl Group). My intention is to over winter my running Bolens with this fuel to reduce 'gumming up' the fuel system and for ease of starting after being laid up. I have used its 2 stroke equivalent for a number of years with no problems. I bought 2 containers at a bargain price for £11.90 plus VAT each.

The new born is a Brangus, Brahma/Angus mix. These are very popular around here for their size, quality of meat, and durability. The red one is a Red polled, but bred by Angus bull, she usually drops a brindle calf

Yes to both. Wooden floor supported on breeze blocks. Insulation will be installed. The flags and blocks are what I've had lying around and the gravel was free from next door.

I thought so, the later ones are much bigger I think, and I believe they might be making a comeback. Maybe show the Hummer what a real off road machine can do. I'm sure if one came up around here it would be way out of my price range, but I can dream.

I bet those 55 pounders on the back tires give it some traction! I didn't realize you could use them on the 10 inch rims as as well. That is a serious grass and garden system.

Well, I got the petrol tank off this afternoon after I put the wheel back on (tyre was still inflated). I tipped the stale fuel out into a see through container; looked like someone urinated in it! Specks of flaky rusts also came out. I then pressure washed the tank a few times. I then quickly dried it out with my air line before pouring in undiluted Sainsbury's cider vinegar almost to the top. I am going to leave it in there for at least 48 hours,, possibly longer. Every now and again, I will give it a shake to slosh it around the tank. I am using this method as it's cheaper than using chemicals and also safer to the user and cleaner for the environment; all worthy reasons. To neutralise the acids I will use be using diluted baking soda after a thorugh rinsing. It will be interesting to see how clean it will be afterwards.

Her old studio will be used to store garden furniture, bikes, BBQ and sundry other things that are now in my shed and workshop. Give me room for another tractor or two.

That is why I like it so much. No other Bolens featured this wonderfully modern and futuristic Brooke Stevens design. To me it is a work of beauty in its design and functionality. I will get one and will be "chuffed" beyond belief.
