    Martin Markham Colt tractor

Picked this one up today, Martin Markham colt deluxe. Came from over the border from Wales, long journey but definitely worth it in my opinion. I have already got the 7hp version but this one had some tempting attatchments, so I had a deal with the owner. It was from a lady who's husband had passed away about 2 months ago and she was selling it, although she liked it, she wanted to let it go to a new home. It was restored around 10 years ago ( not the best restoration) but has kept the rust away and I have been told the gearbox was overhauled which is a bonus😀. Does not run currently but going to have a go tomorrow, should not be much. As you might be able to make out it was road registered, last in 1970😬, but I have the log book and original manual. It has the loader, trailer, plough, rotovator and the rear topper, all surprisingly in good condition for there age and purpose of use. Will get some more pictures tomorrow and hopefully get it running.

    Lathe fun

The sharp eye'd will of noticed a bit of pully damage on the electric motor.. I did try to get the pully off with a puller, but this just caused more damage.. As luck would have it the middle pulley is the right size and it also has no damage, so that's what I will use.. Time to fire up the Mig... I think that should be strong enough Clamped onto the bench.. Yep, that looks good I wasn't sure the bit of box that holds the motor adjust up was strong enough, so it got strenthened Looking at the photo I need to tidy it up a bit and plate over the hole.. Other than cutting an extra leg ( yes that is 2 bit's of WH chassis weled together!) for the bench, that's as far as I've got... Next on the hitlist is to make a quick release tensioner thingy for the top belt..

    Lathe fun

A bit more work has been done on the lathe, I needed to find a way of mounting this rather big motor mounting bracket.. A bit of big box with a slit later sort of thing.. The bit of big box slot's into the chassis like so.. It does need to go higher up.. But some plonker had dumped a big elecric motor in the way! Checking the pulleys line up. Not fully welded up yet, just a check to see if everything lined up as it should.... It does Now to find a way of adjusting the motor to pully belt... This will come in handy

Looks much more weathered now. A combination of sea air and wind. Or maybe just old age.

David, is that your Nichols? Very nice! I have a Crème version that is about an 8 out of 10 compared to most that I have seen. I have never ran mine and was wondering what the heck the batteries were for. Any idea?

    It's worth having a go

Just about to have a go at reducing ALL my bills. Gas, electric, TV broadband phone package, car and house insurance. Worked in the past, time I tried again.

The Nichols generator was featured in the Jan 1963 edition of Popular Science magazine; https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=myADAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA157#v=onepage&q&f=false Both the Nichols & Creme Lure generators had 110V AC outputs as standard, some also have 6V & 12V DC outputs as well. According to the article linked above, the batteries inside were used for starting. David

I think maybe they wanted to make it lighter? Not sure, but it did have a little bit more electronics into it. A 6volt output, I'm guessing for those old lantern lights, and what looks like some test bulb. Hopefully the generator portion wasn't fried. Polaris should have made another color for the snow thrower, like all white to match the snow. Then you would have all the major colors and then some.

    New Pound Coins.

The new pound coins have been designed so that you can fit a spanner on them. This facilitates removing them from a Yorkshire man's hand.

oh FFSake , that's disappointing , I know you and Nigel have been fettling with this patiently and it really sucks to get to this point of the resto to end up with a major problem like this , fear not guys I have a few extra engines that I could use , give me a little time and I will get something down to you , hopefully this will solve the problems and we will get to see Junior running around shortly thanks for all your efforts Nigel ,Ian I do appreciate what you have done . I agree Iain that the colour on the engine is the correct one and it will be interesting to see if you can get a match on that. I was thinking if my 600 is the same gold as the RAM? Hopefully the roll pin you ordered will be the rebirth of this RAM. i will be watching this post with interest.
