    New Tractor Workshop

A bit more progress made on the workshop. 8 double sockets wired and working, same on opposite walls. 2 x 5ft double fluorescent lights with 2 10w LED flood lights for over the work-bench. Got about half of the insulation board up so far. To do list - finish ceiling, paint walls white, paint bottom of wall dark grey, paint floor, build work-bench and install some type of heating, then sit down and have a rest ! Noel.

    Back on the Red bits

Had a few hours in the shed today i just had to get out of the house. After sorting out some boxes of parts from the van I decided to clean my front weights and give them a coat of paint. Not much done but some ticks off my list

    Ransomes MG2 number 137

Yesterday I sandblasted the kettle because it was black and very dull. Today I set up my nickel plating kit and spent a lovely time sitting in a comfy armchair watching molecules swap over. Chuffed with the results the sand blasted fuel filler bowl from the carb has come out a dull finish ( what I wanted ) and the de compressor lever has come out shiny ( also what I wanted ) I tried to buy a new lever but could not find one identical. My ethos has been if I could recover an original part then I would, this lever was corroded to B -------ery but after an hour with my power file dremel and some 1200 wet and dry it looked half decent. The main carb. is in the tank as I write. Both parts bear scars of history which I could have polished out but then there is more to life than absolute perfection !

    C-120 refurb.

Got round to finishing and fitting the bracket this afternoon. Had to have two attempts. Found on the first one, the cylinder eye was to near the hand brake ratchet. There's so little room for error. Had to move the bracket 1/2 inch back. How the cylinder is now positioned, allows full movement of the rod without fouling anything. Sounds simple, but took me about three hours. I've some pins to make for connecting things together, so R clips can be used instead of nuts and bolt. And a slight mod to the rear fulcrum. Also photo's to take for certain persons. Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel is drawing near.

Thanks mate Yeah right And so the engine troubles continue!! Even with a new carb and posh inlet manifold the engine would still not run right, and then I noticed a bubble! For what ever reason there was some liquid around one of the head bolts, and it was bubbling! Only one thing to do.. Yep, start pulling the head off to see if the head gasket had gone! As it turned out the head bolts were not as tight as they should of been and the head wasn't as flat as it shuld of been.. Hhhmm.. Plenty of carbon in there! The valves badly needed grinding back in as they didn't sit to well, also the stems were coated in carbon and crud so out they came for a clean and to be lapped in. With the engine back together it ran..... Just as badly as before! :banghead: It was then noticed that a lot of fumes were being blown out the oil breather which means piston ring problems! Hopefully the rings are just stuck rather then broken.. Time will tell.. Oh... And this turned up and a panel doner for Gut horse!

Nice work Luke, we don't mind modified machines around these parts, I'm very much guilty of it myself
