After last nights episode trying to improve bendys transmission, I ended up resorting to swapping back to belts. I'd also noticed that as well as sluggish starting, it occasionally made a horrible grind So it was out with the engine, the starter is mounted low down on this k341 and you have to lift the engine out... And here's why I had to play with, the starter is a 10 tooth one, with only 7.5 teeth... the other is a high mount, and the other from the infamous acorn harvester at Ian's/Nigel's Fortunately it's a low mounter too, and the teeth are good. A few minutes later and voila, starts a million times better Frozen fingers sent me inside for the night. I was up first thing to defrost the car and thought I'd have a quick test drive. It's pretty cruel outside, kitchen isn't too warm either Bendy started first time, here's a few pics in the frost. I need more grip, might be digging the chains out... Didn't get stuck this time either

    Project C1-4x6

Evening all another quick update , I've finally got the steering to as near as perfect as I can get it and u can steer it with one finger I haven got as much lock as the original tractor but not far off , I may still be able to obtain this with a few adjustments , I had a little drive on the tractor today in the work shop and every thing worked great so now I'm back to the fabrication part, because I'm thinking of putting a winch on the tractor I'm gonna put two 6volt batteries on wired in series to get my 12 volts I'm doing this for several reasons these batteries are very heavy so will act as good ballast , plenty of power and I have access to plenty of these batteries they have come out of a standby battery backup system they was 50 or so wired together to get mains voltage ,any way with me using two of these , I've made a battery Tray to mount them in under the seat ! Here's what I've done today

    Martin Markham Colt Deluxe

A friend of mine in the vintage tractor world rang the other evening asking if I know anyone who would be interested in a small tractor which was getting in the way in his garage. When he mentioned the make and model the radar went up as there were only 100 of these made (so it's rarer than a Mayfield Merlin) Wendy and I braved the ice and snow/rain/sleet for a short (6 mile) trip this morning to pick it up, it's a Martin Markham Colt Deluxe with a 10hp Kohler in it, these were made between 1965 and 1970 by Martin Markham in Lincolnshire. Also pictured is the brochure that arrived a few days ago.

Hello All, As some of you will know I posted back earlier in 2015 saying that the cub cadet will have to sadly find a new home at the end of the year, well I know its the beginning of 2016 now but the time has come for me to part with this wonderful machine! It was restored by myself in 2013 so has the odd mark in the paintwork by now but after a good wash it shines up like new! its mechanically sound, starts, runs and drives lovely. You've all seen plenty of pictures of it by now and some of you have even seen it in the flesh, or shall I say tin however I shall upload more photos below. If anyone is interested send me a PM, we can have a chat. I'd rather it go to a good home on here than I would it go on eBay so thought I'd post this first! More pictures and info can be given if wanted. If wanted I will also include the transport box, tipping trailer and anything else I may come across.

Been following your dilemmas with this, and after you've tried multiple setups with various parts, I too am thinking along the lines of iffy condenser/connection and/or an Earthing problem. What is confusing me though is the sporadic run/firing you've had, maybe it is an inconsistent Earth/ground fault which prevents a Spark when the plug is fitted. Maybe a copper wire from the Cylinder Head to a good earth point will rule that out?. Best I can offer, as I know nothing about the Engine/Mag version you have. Really hope you find the 'Gremlin' soon to reward your high level of skills, patience and determination on an excellent project .

Brrr it's cold, but it had to be fixed

Some thoughts on the belt issue. Possibly try using a cogged (not toothed) wedge belt, machining up a pair of deeper profile pulleys to retain the belt within the flanges when it twists and making up two raking fingers pointing into the open side of the pulleys to continuously remove debris before it builds up.

Good news Paul. Good luck. Need any help give me a call

Why don't you use belts and make a cover for them to stop the grass and crap getting to them

Worth checking that in air the spark is going from the centre electrode to the plug body and not the other what around due to polarity problems. Seen that with a coil ignition set up but not sure if it can happen with a mag.

    Woodstore / Shed makeover

As its been a nice and dry day I managed to finish the roof. Its had a good coats of adhesive and 2 layers of felt I warmed up the sides and used 80x80 plastic angle siliconed and nailed on then painted black as they only do white. Its all buttoned up and watertight and should stand the high winds we have here on the Southcoast. Next job is the front lower plate and make some doors.
