Garner tractor
Wallfish and 9 others reacted to mg_rob for a post in a topic
Here's a couple of photos of my Garner light four-wheel tractor. It has a JAP 5 engine, centrifugal clutch and 3 forward and 1 reverse gears. The large hand lever raises and lowers the draw-bar and a mid-mounted tool frame. I have the tool frame and 2 ridging bodies and a set of home made grubber tines. The toolbox behind the drivers seat is an old ammunition box, this I have been told was factory fitted by Garner. -

hello, Ive stumbled across this wonderful forum for like minded folk. I recently picked this up, Its not running but looks complete other then a starter motor. And a perished rear tyre due to it been stood on it flat. It has a diesel 10 hp lombardini engine and i think its 1970's and thats about all I know about it, My plan it to get it started. paint the wheels, maybe replace the tyres with more tractor like tyres and use it. the first thing i found out about it was how heavy it is, I collected it on my own from someones back garden, had to get it down a alley with 90 degree bend, i had to lift and bounce it round, I think it was worth it. any info would be nice thanks Ash -
4 pointsYou need to look a couple of feet in front of you to see the pot holes.. The bouncing is so bad you can't see anymore than a couple of feet in front anyway Thanks Mark. Thanks James Thanks Rob. As luck would have it, it's not my grass I'm tearing up so I don't have to worry about cutting it Hi Alan, I wouldn't want the pressure washer jet anywhere near me.. It can strip paint off things 30ft away!! Afternoon all, with Project Horse Gut finished apart from a couple of little bits, I have turned back to Project Why Not and the exhaust flame system.. Starting at the top, the green paint on the flame fuel tank just had to go.. That's better, paint stripped then blasted with some red oxide.. The flame fuel pump will be going about here... It is a little higher than the tank, but once it's been primed a fuel tap and not return valve should stop it from trying to drain out. 25ft of brake pipe and some pipe connectors turned up in the post.. I had been wondering what to use as jets in the exhausts until I noticed a couple of knackered Wheel Horse carbs on the rack.. Both carbs put up a fight but I managed to get the jets out.. As it turns out they are a nice tight fit over the brake pipe.. A bit of tweaking later had a small hole blocked at the end and the threaded bit ground away. I expect the jets will get clogged up once in a while so I had to find a way of making them removable.. So into the lathe went a bolt.. A little while later.. Ta- Daa removable jets They are both a nice tight pressure fit so shouldn't come out in a hurry... How the brass will cope with the heat I don't know.. One way to find out I guess

Hi Ash, welcome to the forum. You could always put some BIG wheels and tyres on it -
2 pointsYes, looks fun but it would probably be easier to cut the grass the old fashioned way than having to spend hours cleaning up Why Not and a pair of nutters. A pressure wash of all three might help though.

1 pointbought is about a year ago it had been stood for over 3 years after its working farm life. I thought it was far too cool to leave to rot. So after some haggling we agreed a price (farmer did not want to sell) Basically everything needs doing and its very much a work in progress. the cab is rotten as a judge but its looking a lot better now

1 point5.7 liters of 10w30 is what the books says, In summer or if in severe service 10w40 may be more applicable.

1 pointi like it here I've just been having a good old nose about your threads !!! little hijack of my one thread with a few previous build and a bit of back ground. (I'm a picture whore sorry) i like anything old and thats moves. As a family we go to a few locals show I like to start them young, this is my son ..... growing fast when my old past, i wouldn't part with his mobility scooter so we did this, he smokes about on it. then i bought him this for his 4th birthday hahah a tad premature, So i got put away for a bit he's now old enough to drive it around. But i need to weld an extension bar on the clutch. he just puts it in gear and pulls it out to stop this is my toy anyway enough time wasting I'm gonna bring the Ferrari from the barn to my garage t work on it, you have inspired me. it has 28 x 9.00 - 15 turf tyres on. I'm thinking 5.00-15 6 Ply BKT AS504 Open Centre Dumper Tyre, they'll fit right ?

Welcome to MOM Ash, not sure if I'm the only one here that didn't know that Ferrari made garden tractors . It looks a nice machine . You can now ask all the beautiful chicks if they want to go for a ride in your Ferrari . -
1 pointThat looks great fun. Who needs a cutting deck, a few laps round your lawn on Why Not and it would save you from having to cut the grass for a while

Playtime... Kids were up at 6, I wasn't far behind. Opened the curtain and greeted by this. It was a blizzard outside I had a run up the lane whilst Jake got the snowplough out. And Finn wanted a tow on his sledge It's raining now and the garden looks a little worse for wear Video to follow -
