Lunch time update -
6 pointsEvening all, well the air around the workshop has been red of late... Nope, not people getting angry, chassis painting instead Two coats of Ford Cardinal red and a couple of clear coats.. Even though the engine cradle was painted at the same time, a different light makes it look a different colour! Out in the sun the red looks quite bright and contrasts well with the black radiator mount. The engine after 2 of 4 coats of black engine enamel. 4 coats of black done and the engine looks a lot better.. I didn't see any point in masking up the valve covers as they need to be stripped of silver paint and polished up.. Just so I could say I've started putting WN back together the king pins/spindles and rear axle were bolted on. When the engine and wheels go back on Mnday I will really feel like I'm getting somewhere with the reassembly... Well, until I have to start on the bodywork

New addition to the fleet

Seems appropriate to put it under farming as its predominant use is in farming... after a drought of 18 years I have finally got another proper Land Rover, having had two freelanders and a rav 4 there was still a hole in my life. here she is, 14 years old, fairly tidy, low miles, td5 with overdrive and climate pack - I missed this on the first viewing, but that includes heated windscreen and seats! In a Land Rover that is the height of luxury!!! drives nicely, I'm sure within a week there will be oil leaks, rain leaks and grumbles from the gearbox. That's the fun of Land Rover ownership though If you were wondering what's behind me, that's clowder looking down into hawkswick, the road behind me leads to malham tarn. -

nice truck, Not a proper Landy though, Not unless driving it is a real labour of love! its way to shiny and climate control! I don't even have a back window in mine! and the heaters like an asthmatic mouse blowing though a straw! bet you've even got a syncro gearbox! seriously though really nice buy, bit jealous expect to see some hardcore offroading shots! heres a few from me and my mates, the old black series pickup is mine, -

'Titch' at machinery decals has also been hard at work too. He has recreated the decals from photographs I provided, of the remains of decals found on the machine. He has done a fantastic job as usual! Here are the pictures of the fully 'clothed' finished machine.......... -
1 pointPicked these up today. The more complete one is a Ransomes 10 inch two horse plough and the other is a Pierce of Wexford 8 inch single horse plough. As the 8 inch Pierce plough has a lot of parts missing, i am going to convert it into something i can use behind the Wheel Horse. The Ransomes will be cleaned up, painted and set in my garden. I suppose you could class these as family heirlooms as the Ramsomes belonged to my grandfather and the Pierce was my great grandfathers. &

gotta use em, nothing better than being up the to diffs in mud! its why mine is not being restored beyond the mechanical side, it would only get scratched, Debbie's a work horse and play thing, not a dressage horse! what you cant see in the first photo is that landys pointing down hill an a 45 degree angle for that tire change held back by another defenders winch, not a fun wheel change! -

Mudguards look better with the edging. Keep the H&S bods happy as well. -
1 pointI bought an old trailer at auction a few months back and I am getting around to fixing it up a bit. Two coats of Industrial enamel with hardener and reducer made the metal look fairly good, after three hours sanding and prepping. I used some left over oil base rusty metal primer, oil stain, and varnish to make a paint stew for the old wood, Then I made some tali light brackets from some left over metal bits. Later this week I will install the wiring, attach the lights, and finally install the jack mount and tongue jack. Before and after pictures below.

It was good fun, and very productive for mowing. You never cut the same bit twice with one! At one point I could also mow with the twins sitting either side of me it was a big seat. -

I thought I'd given a big clue in the top of the thread It was a nice tractor and ran sweet as a nut, we like those Briggs engines. Never had any trouble with them.... Well they aren't temperature tolerant. I have two melted ones up the garden -
