    Project "Why Not"

Morning chaps, well yesterday was a very good day with a parcel containing custom decals arrived from Mark.. Perfect timing as it happened as all we had left to do was get WN off the bench and put some fluids in her.. So, a big Mark for the great decals, the cream rather than white works really well I guess now's a good point to do the "before and after" thing As arrived from Chris's collection.. The green engine wasn't part of the deal, I just needed somewhere to put it The same machine after a bit of work All I need now is a better seat, get the engine running (fuel starvation for some strange reason!) and a nice sunny day to get some good photo's/video footage

    Cub Cadet 70 restoration

After using up all of the stock of yellow paint from my local ag merchant they ordered some more from another one of their stores, two days later it arrived and it was a different brand of paint somewhere along the line the paint code got lost so in desperation we made a 60 mile round trip (thanks mum) to another ag merchant and I finally got the paint meaning the last parts could be painted . I made a new gasket for the transmission. The wiring has now been finished and the lights work The bonnet got its final coat of paint and my IH wheel weights arrived (thanks @Charlie Smith) And here it is, nearly finished just a few little bits left to bolt on but it starts and runs like new! I'm very happy

    Disc harrows

with regards to the angle of the discs, larger agricultural sets of a modern design are adjustable for different tasks, the sharper the angle the more aggressive the action, this is caused by the vibrating action of the discs, faster you go the better they work, this is for gaining a fine tilth. Setting the discs to no angle so they are straight is used for primary cultivations to chop fibrous matter up. Reversing the angle of the discs on a smaller set you can use them as a very basic bed former to throw soil into ridges, on dual sets you have the front set pointing forward and the rear set pointing backwards, this means the front set throws the soil out and the rear set pulls it back in resulting in a level fine seed bed.

    Ransomes Turf Trac /Steiner

I have been trying to make some space for a new venture and decided that the best way to start would be to finish some half started projects and get all the bits out of the way. First project was to fit the front doubles to the Turf trak , second job was to modify and fit a three point linkage /hydraulic lift arms I bought months ago and finally to fit the rear weights so that i can use full bucket capacity on the loader. The linkage frame had to be modified with some cutting and welding and a couple of extra mounts made but all fits well, just waiting for a couple of hydraulic pipes to connect up and then I can mount my grader and sort out the driveway. Fully loaded with soil and stable without me on the seat, lift height is over 6Ft.

    Small Scythe Mower

I saw this machine at the Selwood Rally, Nr Trowbridge, Wilts last weekend. It turns out to be a Cyclo made by Cylinder Developments, this one is a Mk III P as it has a driven wheel, the Mk III H has no drive to the wheels. Engine is a Villiers Mk 2G, 70cc two stroke. Cutter bar is the same as a Merry Tiller, I've posted a picture of my Merry Tiller with it's cutter bar for comparison....

    Ransomes Turf Trac /Steiner

Finally managed to find a Turf Trac, typically I have been looking for a couple of years finally bought one from way down south only to find another for sale on Gumtree at Annan 30 miles away ( lot more money ). This one is fitted with a 4ft front mounted cutting deck. The reason I wanted one was that trying to move a dead crawler from one garage to the workshop was just too much for my ride on mower and using a live crawler just chews up the drive and the garage floor. 16.5hp Kubota three cylinder engine starts and runs well. Hydraulic lift front and rear , front and rear pto. four wheel hydrostatic drive with twin ratio axles 11 miles an hour top speed. Pulls like a train and turns in a 36inch inner circle. Needs a new seat some decals and a general tidy up. Typical it rained persistently after delivery so limited playing time.

You won't need much on the harrows, Paul. If you have boxes, you can put stones or bricks in to suit.

    Ransomes Turf Trac /Steiner

I found another one a couple of weeks ago lurking behind a shed in Saxmundham the guy who owned it deals in obsolete Ransomes spares and told me he had seen a batch of six loaders sitting in the yard in Ipswich so there must be some more loaders out there somewhere.

They are not the best but they are a lot better than they were, it's a bit of a rush to get it finished for the first show but I can always repaint parts later that I'm not happy with

I wouldn't worry about it but you but if it bugs you, knock off one opposite. Lots of bunce flywheels about , we used to store a few from wrecked engines and then usually ended up weighing them in!

Hi guys have been busy today bringing back to life my old simar no3 rototiller which was a complete wreck when i got it , after getting the mag rebuilt repairing the Amal carb and removing plum stones from the fan casing new main bearings were fitted and finally new piston rings After about two pulls it was running just need to make exhaust for it now and weld the hood so I was delighted with that result (happy as pig in sxxxxit ) so here is a picture of the beast hope you like it
