The Showman kindly made up three ploughing sighting poles for me, which he brought up to Newby. I've been thinking of how to transport them when at a match. Today I set too to see what I could come up with. Some aluminium 1" angle, U bolt, plastic pipe and a couple of pieces of cushion foam and two hours later the result. Yesterday I made up some points for them. Held in place with split dowels. Didn't want to damage Chris's paint work. The poles rest on a rubber strip and another piece of foam goes 'tween poles and U bolt, to stop them rattling about. BTW. I can still operate the clutch. .

Evening all, I picked this up today and I'm not entirely sure what it is, its not the normal shape mini tractor look alike ride on it's one of them snapper ride on's, the surface rust is all over however its not rot anywhere even the deck is solid and everything is free turning. I poured some petrol into the plug hole and she fired up, shouldn't need to much to get it running and driving again, it is chain driven from the gearbox to the rear axle. it says landmaster on it? I'm pretty sure I've heard that name thrown about on here? Can anyone tell me what this is? and is it worth keeping and restoring? or is it just a common muck? Many Thanks Charlie.

I picked this up recently. I think it is a simplicity serf 525. It is a very small tractor and looks quite cool. I'm not sure but I think it is 1969 and I think it has the original engine. Any help on identification would be appreciated. I will prob give it a light restoration some time as shouldn't take to long.

The valves are very easy to do, there's guides on google and YouTube, I'd definatley do it as the next job. To be honest it's the first job I do on any small engine, cures about 90% of problems particularly ones that look like fuel as if the valves are pitted the engine can't suck the petrol in properly.

Easy enough to remove the flywheel. Use a bolt in the centre and give the bolt a smack. DON'T try and lever it off.

Bit of steam and a few naked people and you could set up your own sauna.

Hi all! The Westwood is finally going! Though the breaks are not working yet, I can fix these easily enough. One issue I have is I think the carb has seen better days, probably needs a new set of parts or replacing. It has been cleaned out thoroughly by my friend who restores classic cars, and the engine runs but it has a sweet spot at fairly high revs, and doesn't run well at all above or below. Also under load it splutters sometimes. But still, I am happy it runs and I will look forward to using it more

Just had a look through my Landmaster literature and found it...

In the 1960's Landmaster marketed a ride on mower which I think was another rebadged import, this is mine dating from 1966...

Pictures are absolutely misleading. Its kind of like those glamour or boudoir photos, or the ones the estate agents hand out that are retouched. Well I bid on an air compressor at this auction site because the compressor was only a 100 miles away and I was going that way. It seemed like a nice portable shop air compressor, one of the older generation that really lasts, well in the picture it was next to some electric motors that I thought were 1-2 hp motors, upon arriving at the auction site the electric motors turned out to be the size of a cow and so did the "date" I had won on auction for 150.00, and at nearly 300kg that works out to 2kg to the dollar. Apparently it has a 5 hp 220 volt motor with a tank that could power the Queen Mary for a jaunt in the harbor. They loaded it in the van with a crane, had to take the front skids loose to lower it enough to pass into the cargo area, it was 51 inches tall, I managed to get some smooth 2x12 wood ramps to the back of the van and pull it rear ward with a come along until I could slide it down the ramps enough to reattach the front two skids, then pulled it to the end of the ramps and lifted one end (it wasn't the light end, there wasn't a light end) onto a heavy duty dolly and danced a jig getting her centered on the dolly. From now on I'm sticking with skinny air compressors, the ones that stand up. Thinking back after wrestling the old girl out of the van, why didn't I least take the trailer, oh yeah, she looked svelte.
