    Got these for free.

Had a bit of a play today. Handle that can be fitted either end and hand winch for dead tractors. Bit of tidying up to do, then it will be ready for number three grandson to clean up and paint at Easter. I've not told him yet.

You never know when some scrap box section will come in handy. I'll have them. Tell Chris to fetch 'em up to Newby Hall.

    Another day at the sawbench

As a few of you will have read i came home from Johns yesterday with a sprinter load of wood. As I've been poorly for a couple of weeks and having a polythene sheet for a roof my wood stock had gone down dramatically so as it was a wet day i thought I'd cut it up

Picked up these today. Any one guess what they are? And hopefully what one at least will be?

Got them from a chap 3 miles from me. He and his son run an engineering/machine shop. Have one heck of a collection of stationary engines. Jonathan mentioned seeing them, so I went to see. Just in time as they were due for the skip.

Get some Gold paint and rewrite them with 'Wheel Horse' to make it exciting for Chris. Having said that, it probably be no more exciting than Royal Mail..... Mind you if it got Cub Cadet or Bolens then it will be very exciting and interesting...,,

Bet there will be a lot of "Where does this bit go" and "I'm sure something went here" when it's re assembly time.

Triumph66, on 10 Mar 2016 - 7:33 PM, said: Nothing exciting Andrew. 3 or 4 pieces of box section steel. 2 x 1 about 24" long approx with Royal Mail in gold lettering. No idea what they were from or how John came by them. The Showman didn't show any interest even though they were red.

    Found Two Old Bolens Plows

The hitch was totally different on the pedestrian tractors, this was from an ride-a-matic, circa 1956-1962 EDIT: It looks like more research is necessary, not sure these are ride-a-matic plows, they also look like early Simplicity/Allis/Wards plows as well. It looks like they may have been altered as the one in back, and maybe the one in front, might have originally used a turnbuckle connected to two clevises, but I not sure what these came from now. They are from a riding garden tractor and not a pedestrian tractor though, I can tell that by the front hitch.

I think that once you have a body you can fit either flange or base mounts without too much hassle.

    Bolens H16

Andrew, trailer is a really good idea for a H16 for a couple of reasons. They are incredibly heavy compared to other tubeframes and you can't disconnect the hydro drive like you can on a largeframe. You have to push them slowly otherwise you will wind up the transmission and it will either lock on you or make horrible noises. Iain

Good photos Alan, it was a job that we've been talking about for a while. The red car i had running a few weeks ago that ran very well and on the fuel that was in it !!!. Its only got 17 k on the speedo but i dont know if thats right. In all a very constructive day with plenty of tea and good banter. Thanks to John and Alan for an enjoyable day

Got everything free(ish) and a sheet of 5/8" ply, that been propping up the workshop wall for some time, temporarily fitted to the top. Found out it will not go down unless weight is on. It is hydraulic with foot pedal and very slow. I had to test it of course, before going any further. Max weight 185kg it says on the side. Think there's a tad more on there. But it never budged. It won't lift over 20" high now, but that will do me nicely. It will most likely stay at that hight as well. No need really to lift it up and down. More to do yet. But may be a while.

Got it in one, Koen. The smaller one does work but has had a wheel amputated. The larger one, which is the one I will be keeping, needs freeing up. Pedal was seized and is now being soaked in penetrating fluid. If your going to Newby Hall, Nigel.
